Everyday we meet business owners, professionals, artists and creatives. Photographers, florists, realtors and more. They might come from different backgrounds, work in different industries, have varying personalities, and have vastly different income and educational profiles, but the one thing we’ve seen over and over again is that most people have a unique and special reason for why they do what they do. From a realtor helping families afford the first home he always wished for as a kid to a photographer using her skills to give a voice and face to victims who feel voiceless, we have been blown away by what happens when you just ask people a simple question – why do you do what you do?

Design Camp LA’s mission is to design with compassion and collaboration. Our collaborative process empowers our partners to be creative directors in the projects they bring to our studio. Through our background in community engagement, we continuously strive to create a design process that is engaging, straightforward, and universally accessible that places our partners’ voice at the forefront of decision-making. My bi-cultural background as a French-American architect fuels my passion to inspire though design, cultural programming, and storytelling. Growing up navigating between two cultures gave me insight into the challenges of feeling othered, but also revealed the transformative power of language in bridging divides. Though born in the US, my early education in France before settling in Chicago exposed me to diverse perspectives. Going through programs like ESL (English as a Second Language) and navigating an unfamiliar system helped me connect with other kids from different countries, reinforcing a belief that has stayed with me: we are stronger when we learn from each other’s traditions, rituals, cuisines, and languages. The mission of my company is to make the best guitar pickups available. I’ve been playing guitar since I was 5 years old, and at age 61 am still playing and gigging. I have always sought after the best sounding pickups I could find for my guitars and at some point realized that the only way I was going to get the sound I wanted was to make the pickups myself. I started doing this as a hobby, and as many of my friends are also musicians, they started asking me to build them pickups as well. After doing this for some time, and getting great response from my friends who were using my pickups, I decided to officially make it a business. While it’s been less than a year since making this decision, my products have been well received and I look forward to growing the business and helping other players achieve the exact sound they are looking for. The story behind SoulSPACE and becoming a Sovereignty Coach really began with my own healing journey from being suicidally depressed to living a fulfilling, joyful life. I never had a safe space as a child, so I lived most of my life in survival mode. I never had guidance, support, or emotionally healthy examples in my life. I always felt out-of-place, alone, and broken. As I started to heal, I learned I was actually never broken…none of us are. I had just never been safely loved. I had never experienced what is was like to belong. Read more>>

I grew up in a small, rural town. The only child of two parents with very limited resources but an abundance of love, creativity and an appreciation for the little things in life. Holidays and other special occasions were celebrated mostly with experiences instead of gifts. As an adult juggling careers, responsibilities, children and marriage, my appreciation for experiential events and quality time together continued to grow. When I was introduced to the idea of luxury picnics, it was obvious that this aligned perfectly with my focus on slowing down and creating memories. I knew right away that I wanted to bring this experience to the beautiful Lake Norman area! Read more>>

My mission is to empower others to know that they have The Power To Choose. Power to choose the direction of their life. Power to choose the legacy they will leave. Even that which we did not choose for ourselves, we can choose to change. Working as a court reporter I witnessed many lives ruined by the excuse, “I didn’t have a choice.” We all have voices. We all have choices. And the both have the power to create change. -Brandi Ray Read more>>

At HoneyMilk, our mission is deeply personal. It started 13 years ago when my son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Like any mother, I wanted to give him the best—physically, emotionally, and environmentally. I quickly realized how many toxins were lurking in everyday products, from food to skincare, and how they could affect his sensitive system. That was my wake-up call. I set out on a mission to detox our home and protect my son from the harmful chemicals we unknowingly expose ourselves to every day. Read more>>

At Women of the Triangle Hiking Club, we aim to foster connection between women by connecting them with nature. The power of community and shared experiences is powerful, and when we harness that magic and share it outward, it comes back to us tenfold. That’s been my personal experience and a story I’ve witnessed over 7,000 times in the last three years. Our mission was birthed in a gloomy place. I was feeling the sting of Covid, plus a detrimental heartbreak and a dramatic relocation. Throw in losing my job and most of my friends, and you’ve got a recipe for a nonprofit – ? Not exactly, but that’s how we got here, nonetheless. Read more>>

The story and the meaning behind my mission, and my vision is essentially inclusivity, diversity, and celebration. Growing up, I didn’t have many role models that looked like me (that I was exposed to that is- maybe just Oprah), especially any that were/are at the “top” or being the soul owners of a company/legacy. I had always envisioned opening up a space, in any capacity, where creativity, diversity, colors, laughter, and sweet memories filled a room. Coming from a hosting background and always having family gatherings, I envisioned this space would have that touch. Of course I want people to visit our studio, my new baby, but I also want them to experience a sense of belonging and a joyful spirit! It’s important for me that people not only have a great experience, but that they also can live out the meaning behind my mission. I come from with a beautiful story, one of migration, adversity, devotion, but best of all richness and wealth in culture. Read more>>

I think creative entrepreneurs and the multi-faceted need help. I say this as one myself. Throughout our careers we discover weaknesses and gaps in our skill sets and knowledge base when it pertains to marketing, budgeting, networking, self-doubt and keeping our heads above water. I made conscious evolution io in order to close these gaps. I believe creatives push innovation. So by me actively supporting creatives through digital and physical resources, I then become the catalyst of societal evolution on the highest scale. The world needs us and I stand by that. My mission is to use art as a means to communicate ideas .My newest show explores the relationship between street art and its fight against oppression. Through the depiction of an often marginalized form of artistic expression as a beacon of democracy, my goal is to spark conversations surrounding people’s freedom and their use of art as a tool to reach their goals.I believe that art is one of the biggest social catalysts, giving voice to the silenced and oppressed. It is important to me that my artworks reflect, inspire other artists and aid in social progress. Read more>>

Our organization was established by a woman who wanted the arts to become more accessible to people in the community. Since then, the organization’s programming has grown to include not only opportunities for individuals to grow their own skills through classes and workshops, but also outreach in the community to bring the process of creating art to less-served areas. It has become clear in the last two decades that our mission has evolved to focus more on the impact of art on mental health, including both the creating side and the experience of viewing art. Years ago I was involved in an abusive relationship. Nearing the end, when I was gathering my strength and courage to leave, I was sitting with my best friend in my car. The sun was shining. The summer air was blowing through the open windows. We were at a T-intersection, a wall of brick mortar businesses sitting in front of us as we waited for the light to turn green. I’d just finished telling her about the latest incident. She was the only one that knew. The only one privy to the ins and outs of the relationship and what I was going through. And as we sat at that light, I took a deep breath, let it out, and said, “One day, I’m going to write a book dealing with abuse, and if it can change one woman’s life then everything I’ve gone through will have been worth it.” Read more>>

At Kulture Kollective, our mission is to break down the stigmas surrounding mental health. This mission is deeply personal to me because growing up, I saw how mental health struggles were often met with silence or shame. This inspired me to create a brand that uses fashion as a platform for awareness. By wearing our designs, people help spark conversations that challenge stigmas and promote openness. I believe that, just like physical health, mental health deserves understanding and support. Kulture Kollective is committed to being part of necessary shift in how we talk about and approach mental health. Read more>>

Prior to creating and building Kardavox Academy, I worked a lot of entry level gigs that felt like they had no future. I found myself in call centers, sales jobs, assistant roles, and so on. There’s nothing wrong with that work. We all start somewhere and need to learn the ropes before we grow. But it was clear to me that these spaces were not interested in my development or future. They wanted me to fill a seat, do a job, and keep quiet. I of course grew frustrated with this and began trying to find my way out. I have been a singer and metal vocalist for almost 15 years now, and this turned out to be my ladder upwards. People spoke very positively of my voice and my abilities in our music videos, and so I thought “Hey, what if I could teach people to do this too”? Read more>>

Thank you so much for allowing me to share the story behind the mission of my non profit, Pixiedusted. Our mission is enriching children’s and families’ lives through random acts of gifting to financially support programs and needs that might otherwise go unfunded! But more than just a mission written down on paper, my board members and I are carrying out our mission every month through my passion of random acts of kindness. We believe that a little bit of kindness can go a long way and that there are many ways in our community we can help others such as filling little libraries, providing birthday cake kits to the local food pantry for kids birthdays, helping the local Christmas blessings store, and serving families that have kids in the hospital. Our acts of gifting changes every month and every year and we love filling the gap as we see needs. Read more>>

Personal Story: The Awakening In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, there was a time when I found myself feeling disconnected—disconnected from my passions, my purpose, and, most importantly, from myself. I was caught in a cycle of constant striving, always chasing the next milestone, the next achievement, the next moment of validation. But in the midst of it all, I realized something was missing: a deeper understanding of who I truly was. This realization didn’t strike all at once but unfolded slowly. It was a series of moments—some small, others life-altering—that opened my eyes to the truth. I was no longer interested in merely improving or fixing myself; instead, I craved something more profound. I yearned to know myself, to reconnect with the woman I was at my core, beyond the roles I played and the expectations I carried. Read more>>

Zunnar Sitty was born after a trip back home to Palestine, where I experienced firsthand the challenges our elderly face when it comes to medical care. When a family member needed medical attention, we quickly realized that the hospitals were struggling to meet the needs of the elderly, and the staff were so overworked that it was difficult to get proper care. We even had to purchase medical supplies from a local supermarket just so a nurse could help us. This experience opened my eyes to the urgent need for better support for our elderly. Read more>>

So, I’ve been a photographer for over 8 years now but…. about 6 of those 8 years were like.. bitter on blast!!! The peaks were mega high but the lows were…stupid low, it was sorta like I was in this abusive relationship with my passion. I’d threaten to quit when I was broken over the bile that no doubt exists in every industry but couldn’t bear to part with the honey it was to my soul. About 2 years ago, I was just.. done. The sweet wasn’t enough for me anymore and I was like, desert dry.. and amongst that, I also for years questioned how photography could be ministry. I got saved at 19 and while I was busy learning how to be a follower of Christ, a wife, a mother and a photographer… I could easily see how being a Christian, wife and mom is Kingdom work but I couldn’t reconcile how photography could be? We don’t take pictures to heaven.. so, I started to question if what I was doing was really meaningful. Read more>>

How it started: I simply want to share food photos. How it’s going: I realized I myself wanted to see detailed reviews of each restaurant and event before I decided to spend my money to buy the experience, and I realized many of my followers did too. My mission for my blog right now (and will continue to be) is to give as much authentic information in my videos as possible, and in a good vibes. We unknowingly spend hours on social media everyday and it shapes our mood and thoughts. The mission behind Toucan Play began with a simple observation: Parenting, while incredibly rewarding, can also be overwhelming, especially when you’re looking for a safe, clean, and fun place where your child can explore and grow. As parents, we understand the need for a balance between providing your child with enriching activities and finding those rare moments of peace for yourself. The inspiration behind Toucan Play came from a desire to create a space that was more than just a playground. It was about building a community where both parents and children could thrive. A place where parents could relax, work, or learn, while their little ones explored a world designed just for them — safe, clean, engaging, and stimulating for toddlers and crawlers. Read more>>

It started with fireworks and feeling the magic of a joyous celebration during the Fallas festival in Valencia, Spain. Nurture Natives’ mission is to empower youth through environmental initiatives that promote native biodiversity. But our work goes beyond just planting native species—it’s about reshaping how young people see themselves in relation to the world around them. My mission statement is MISREaD, but never misguided. I like to unveil biblical truth by inspiring others like I was inspired when I first opened the pages to the Bible. The words began to come off the page to encourage me.When I began to learn who I was and to who I belonged to. My identity became clear to me. For who I was created to be.I don’t know anyone that doesn’t walk through a hard season in life.Immediately always questioning our self in so many areas and then I learned. Out of all the many mistakes and crooked paths I walked over and over. Until, in a moment it came to me, “From a flicker to a flame”. I’m here to ignite others with my testimony and to encourage them to also see , that they have a purpose. I want to tilt my torch over and light your torch, so that you can ignite others as well.
