We were lucky to catch up with Misread Speaks recently and have shared our conversation below.

MisREaD, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

My mission statement is MISREaD, but never misguided. I like to unveil biblical truth by inspiring others like I was inspired when I first opened the pages to the Bible.The words began to come off the page to encourage me.When I began to learn who I was and to who I belonged to. My identity became clear to me. For who I was created to be.I don’t know anyone that doesn’t walk through a hard season in life.Immediately always questioning our self in so many areas and then I learned. Out of all the many mistakes and crooked paths I walked over and over. Until, in a moment it came to me, “From a flicker to a flame”. I’m here to ignite others with my testimony and to encourage them to also see , that they have a purpose. I want to tilt my
torch over and light your torch, so that you can ignite others as well.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I became a Podcast Host because I love having conversations, but I love having conversations where we are transparent and honest about who we are. It’s so easy to get dressed and get on stage and perform or look in the mirror and walk away and forget who you were just looking at. This is a reality for some. This was someone’s reality before. I like to sit down at the table with people that are going to be honest with themselves ,whether they’re just now starting or whether they’re in the middle or they are advanced in the area of their life either way, their truth should be heard with love and respect. I want to hear how it was when they FIRST took a step and where they’re today in their growth journey. When I’m able to sit down and have a mic in my hand or I’m listening to someone face their fears by putting one in their hands. As we both began to paint the picture of how far we have came and the things we have left behind. I am someone that loves to connect with my brothers and sisters across the entire nation. From one side of the globe to the next. Having a conversation is THERAPY and I think everyone should sit down and just spark a flame of a much needed conversation.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

Law-enforcement have always been a passion of mine.I love the pivoting moment that took place. It was actually 2019 when everything was checking off as I was about to become an officer at my local sheriff department, but then the door did not open anymore and I was completely devastated as we know when one door closes….Another one OPENS. I work literacy ministry that serves adults in or out of prison and children, with a special focus on those with dyslexia. It has been a deep fulfilling experience helping people overcome literacy challenges, and seeing the joy it brings when they make progress. I’m protecting the minds of young children and adults who always thought that something was wrong with them and to learn that’s not true, it never grows old with the amount of Joy I have daily. This has been a great pivotal moment that led me to a long term moment that has been a complete joy in my life .

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

Being able to be an ignited flame for others.So, that they can see that their light can be ignited as well. Rewriting the script. No matter their background , what they look like or their lifestyle. That being able to know who you are and the very reason why you exist ignites a different response in spite of their childhood adulthood or even their currently circumstance right now. There’s a torch within them as well that needs to be seen and heard.
