Every once in a while we have the good fortune of working on a project that we feel truly matters, a project that we’ll still be thinking about years from now. Maybe even something we can imagine telling our grandkids about – surely you’ve had moments like that where something you did in your professional life really mattered?

One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on so far is my new documentary “In Our Nature”. The film follows three very different communities – youth on Chicago’s South Side, a forest school in rural Kentucky, and military families navigating grief in Texas – as they use nature-based education to heal divides and help kids reconnect with the world around them. My most meaningful project to date would be between 2 songs written at life altering stages of my life ‘First Time’ in 2015 and ‘LIME’ which dropped just over a month ago. ‘LIME’ being most recent, ill go into that project. This is probably the most intimately ive shared this and probably will stand as such. Read More>>

I’m not sure that I can pick one, to be honest. I guess I’ll just do my usual by not following the rules, and pick three (insert five or ten laughing emojis.) A photograph of woman doing a yoga pose inside an abandoned school. A hat I made for a hat party. Spoiler: I won. A wall I made for art Class. Read More>>

My most meaningful project has to be my newest published and guided journal, Spill It, Sis. Spill It, Sis is actually a revamp of a journal(My Daily Talks of Blessings, Gratitude & Happiness) I wrote a few years ago to help remind me why I am meant to be here every single day, especially when the world gets complicated, cold, and frustrating. I wrote and starred in my directorial debut ‘APE’ recently. I believe that the most engaging works of art offer a private part of the artist up for people to investigate and make their own judgements. APE was a deeply vulnerable experience – it addresses difficult topics on masculinity and generational rage coming from the perspective of an Asian men in the west. Read More>>

Every project is special to me, but my work with undefined forms like water and smoke stands out. Since they lack a fixed shape, they are very challenging to tattoo. They shift from static to dynamic in an instant. It’s hard to draw them on paper, but tattooing them is a massive undertaking. Read More>>

The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is a two-part documentary about mathematicians from across the African diaspora. A friend from film school reached out about a gig and connected me with the director, George Csicsery. Through him, I met the cinematographer, Ashley James, who ultimately brought me onto the team to light a series of interviews. Read More>>

I recently finished a children’s book called A Monster Ate My Pillow. It started out as a joke – I was working in the yard with my then three year old and saw him yawn. I asked if he was ready for a nap, to which he of course responded, ‘No.’ I said, ‘Why not? Read More>>

The most meaningful project I’ve worked on so far is my EP, “Changes”. The journey began in 2019 after I released my first single, “Broken.” Hearing the positive feedback inspired me to keep writing, and that’s when I started working on my next song “Changes.” I really took my time writing this new song, it wasn’t until 2021 that I officially started recording it. One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on wasn’t a single project, but a series of healthcare and sustainability-focused designs that helped shape how I see my role as a landscape architect and urban designer. I take a lot of pride in my profession because I truly believe the built environment has a profound impact on people’s emotions, behavior, and overall well-being. Read More>>

One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on has been offering Pay-What-You-Can sessions during the fall and Christmas seasons. I started them because I wanted families to have beautiful photos without worrying about cost, especially during times of year when budgets can be tight. Some families paid a little, some paid more, but every session felt full of gratitude and genuine connection. Read More>>

The most meaningful project I have ever worked on isn’t a single painting or program—it is the living tapestry called community. If I were to name one chapter that embodies this work, it would be Dada Rafiki, a celebration of women who quietly move mountains.
