We recently connected with Nathan Witt and have shared our conversation below.
Nathan , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project we work on is our beautiful hand-turned ornaments and signature Snowmen. We love watching the kids faces light up when they pick out their ornament of the year or when I turn that ornament at a show.
We also love making our signature Snowmen each year and debuting then at Travelers Rest Farmers Market Small Business Sarurday. Each one is hand-turned from its hat, face, nose, pipe and buttons. They are all unique and have there on personality.
Now dont get me wrong we love making and creating that beautiful heirloom that will be passed down from generation to generation. Some of our bowls from customer trees that have come down in a storm or even a barn beam that is having to be taken down that has been in the family forever..

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was a little kid when i started turning and working with wood. I use to carve competition duck decoys and other items. My hands dont work like they use too so I dont carve much anymore. I have turned to working with the lathe. I use to sneak in my fathers shop amd turn, and I took a shop class in high where we learned how to work woth different toolings. I love creating something beautiful out of a tree trunk branch or root base.
My wife and I started our business about 7 or 8 years ago. We love creating that beautiful treasure or heirloom that will be passed down. for years to come. You can find us at Trailblazer Park on Saturdays for the Travelers Rest Farmers Market or in Landrum for the Landrum Farmers Market. We also do some Art Shows and other festivals around the area. We are in local stores too Chestnut Coffee House, Full Circle Vintage Modern Market, Southern Sisters Home, Harvest Kitchen, Lake Lure Pottery and in Beaufort at Fishburne Gallery..
We never cut a tree down to make our products we source from local arborist, sawmiils, friends and we even find wood on the side of the road. Some of our favorite woods would be rainbow poplar, ambrosia maple walnut there are so many different varieties.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Yes the AAW American Association of Woodturners. We are able to read and learn different techniques, connect with other woodworkers around the world, and they also put on a week long symposium every year where artisians can get together and learn new ways of turning.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
We build our audience on social media by doing feeds on how we make our beautiful products. We love doing live feeds showing the art of woodturning. We post pictures of our products from start to finish and at markets on display for our customers and friends to buy.
Make sure you share your work or products. Do something different daily tag others in the videos, reels, lives and those that you tag will also share giving you more exposure, likes and followers.
