We were lucky to catch up with Michael Arnold recently and have shared our conversation below.

Michael, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

I. Working on a project now called Ninjamik3 the Anime. I love hip-hop music and Anime soni thought of an original story to tell through lyrics over beats produced by me to give the listening audience something that they’ve never experienced before.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I’ve always loved music and since I was a kid discovering Speed Racer Dragonball z and Yu yu hakusho, I’ve always loved Anime!! I’ve always been able to put lyrics together and rap them so over the years I’ve been able to hone my skills and perfect my craft and tune it to my own liking. I’ve always wanted to do anime and voice overs. I’ve Done a small voice over role on an anime called Zombie land Saga for Funimation. That was an amazing accomplishment. I’ve wanted to star in an anime but sometimes it’s hard for black voice actors to break through. So one day I was like; why not do it myself. So I learned engineering and editing as well as mixing and mastering. It took me years to develop this project from the ground up and im finally at a point where I can start presenting this to the world. Im extremely excited!

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

I definitely wish I knew how to animated. And edit and mix. I’ve had to learn all of this like going to school all over again. Youtube university needs to to hand me a degree for the hours I’ve put in! But I definitely wish I knew how to animate from the start.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

The goal is to tell a story that people will enjoy. I want to tell a compelling story fresh from the depths of my mind that people would love to listen to, see, and revisit on multiple occasions. I love telling stories and watching and listening to entertainment with a compelling story so I just want to tell a good one myself.
