We’ve always tried to ask the questions that matter but that are too awkward for people to ask their friends, family and coworkers without seeming dramatic. One of those questions is about mission and purpose – when’s the last time you asked a friend what their mission was? Too often we don’t talk about our own missions and don’t ask those close to us about theirs with the result being that our missions remain secret. Are you just a doctor or are you a doctor who wants to be there for patients in the way you wished your father’s doctor had been? People have incredible and meaningful missions, and we hope our conversations asking folks about their mission can inspire more such conversations in your life.

My mission behind starting a talent placement firm, CoCreate Solutions, is to bridge the gap in representation at all levels in particularly, leadership, for minority talent. After over a decade of working as a Talent Acquisition Executive for Fortune 100 and 500 companies, I recognized the need for a more intentional approach to building diverse candidate slates and sourcing talent from underrepresented backgrounds. Too often, decision makers lack access to a truly diverse pool of candidates, not due to a lack of qualified individuals, but because the right channels were not in place. At CoCreate Solutions, my goal is to prioritize inclusivity and ensure that diverse talent is effectively presented and advocated for in opportunities at all levels. Read more>>

Very early on in our business we knew we wanted generosity to be the star. Our pastor once challenged us with the question, “What is the one thing that breaks your heart and what can you do about it?” The answer to that question for us is childhood cancer so when we started The Salz Team we knew we had to have a philanthropic mission which is when our tagline “Do Well Do Good” was born. I created O.G. Lola’s in 2019 to heal our planet, our people and our communities from the inside-out. Every single thing that we consume is connected in the most intricate, energetic ways. We are here to help everyone remember the simple ways of our ancestors. Healing happens when we nourish ourselves with whole foods and vibrant plants – when we remember to be mindful to our earth, to not take more than we need from her. We are also here to decolonize veganism. Indigenous vegan culture has been around since the beginning of time. The food that we share is delicious and nostalgic to the palate to remind folks that plant based food is full of flavor, joy and soul. Read more>>

It started with two sisters just wanting to dance like what they were used to back home in Cochabamba, Bolivia. In our search for places to dance at and people to dance with, we found ourselves creating our own fitness company based on our unique style of workout choreographies. This led to opening our own brick and mortar studio where we connected with people’s stories on a daily basis. We found out that our classes empowered them and helped them modify their lifestyle towards a healthier path. My sister and I had no idea that by challenging their minds and bodies through a fun workout, they would get stronger in other ways too. So our mission became clear: we need to empower women and feminine presenting people (plus anyone who wants to join in), and help them see how magical we are. Read more>>

My mission is to increase access to veterinary care. This started from working in the veterinary field, and seeing so many pets stressed before, during, and or after their veterinary visit. Going to a veterinarian can often be a stressful event for the pet and the pet owner. As a technician working in hospitals, I often help with and see the schedule packed with nail trims, medication demonstrations, and other things that could be safely performed at home. I believe that my goal to provide veterinary nursing services at home will benefit in so many ways. Cats and dogs can be in a low-stress environment, at home, where they can recover quickly and escape to a favorite hiding place after a nail trim. Read more>>

My mission is to help nonprofits, small businesses, and individuals think, plan, and execute on purpose. Passionate visionaries often start great businesses, ventures, and organizations. However, without a clear plan, many times they miss opportunities and struggle to maintain the same vigorous energy needed to sustain. I have seen this in my personal life as well as my professional life. From the good, the bad, and oh yes the ugly. Having a structured plan helped provide me with clarity and direction through dark times and during successful ones. Through separation / divorce, job changes, promotions, program creation, staffing challenges, and community engagement. Read more>>

If you don’t know where you’re going, any path will do! A person is born twice in their life—once when they open their eyes, and again when they discover their life’s mission. My mission, and the mission of my business, is to teach people that through learning, communication, and focus, they can reach places they never thought possible. Read more>>

Our mission is to empower moms to regain control of their time and financial future. After 18 years in our respective 9-5 careers, we each faced life-changing events that shifted our priorities. Judy, as a dental hygienist, felt the weight of inflation when her family was declined at a grocery store during a snowstorm. Michellyn’s world was turned upside down when her husband was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. These experiences fueled our passion to help other moms find financial independence through social media monetization, giving them the ability to be fully present for their families while maintaining their income. We’re here to show that it’s possible to achieve both financial stability and the freedom to be there when it matters most. Read more>>

My mission is to tell people that healing from anxiety and trauma is possible. I was born while the War in Vietnam was happening. My dad had been in the Marines and was there when it was still a “conflict”. Part of him never returned. We learned to recognize the look in dad’s eyes that said he was “having a flashback”. We learned to be quiet, be still, go get mom to help him. My mom has a chronic illness and depression. I can’t tell you how many times I had to call someone to take her to the hospital before I could drive her there myself. There was ALWAYS the fear she would die. Read more>>

Bryn, our founder, was planning her own wedding a few years ago while both she and her fiancé (now wife) were working full-time corporate jobs and living in a different state. During a work project to build a tool comparing counsel costs, Bryn had the thought that something similar was missing in the wedding industry. Our Day was born from the idea that wedding planning – especially building your vendor roster – shouldn’t add to our already super-busy life schedules. If we can help speed up the booking process, then couples can actually enjoy the planning process and focus on what matters… getting ready to celebrate the best day of their life together. I’m a big believer in Quality. I’m totally fed up with products that are meant to be disposable and what that actually teaches people. Growing up I was always modeling. From age four, I knew how to turn my head for the camera and what was just the right amount of smile to give. However, for as long as I can remember I was always told I would be a singer. There wasn’t a single day you could go without finding me singing a song or humming a tune. To everyone around me, I had already become a star. It wasn’t until my early teen years that I started to consider that. I didn’t write music, I wasn’t particularly skilled on any instrument, I just liked to sing. It was also during these times I started needing an emotional outlet to turn to. Naturally, I tried my hand at what I’d always been told I would do, and it worked out better than I imagined. Read more>>

My mission in life is to share my gifts with the world. The biggest gift that I’ve been blessed with is the ability to cook and bake. My mother got me started on my journey with how to cook and bake. Over the years I’ve watched her and my aunts cook numerous family favorites. Watching them gave me some inspiration to continue mastering my gift. Over the past few years I’ve heard from several people on multiple occasions that I need to start my own business so one day I decided to stop sitting on my gift and began the process of starting my own business. I believe I was blessed with this gift for a reason and by not sharing it with the world I was wasting it. The main mission behind my business is to make uniquely crafted treats that my customers will enjoy. Read more>>

The Story Behind My Mission: Styling for Real Women When I left the world of music education, I found myself in a bit of a tailspin, wondering what my next step would be. My art is contouring women’s bodies to make them feel confident. It’s not only the clothes, it’s the feeling. We were the first brand to make body contouring shape-wear gowns, way before Skims. It’s a compliment that Kim loved the way our Lycra dresses fit that it inspired her to make her own line of them. Nothing easy is worth having. I wouldn’t have wanted it to be easy. Perseverance is crucial. Some of the lessons I’ve learned is not to take criticism negatively, learn from it instead. Be strong in your mind, don’t depend on your feelings. Someone is always going to copy you, take it as a compliment. I learned that the hard way. Read more>>

Our mission at FarmSouth is “to showcase local growers and artisans, provide a unique market experience for local goods, and unite community members through learning experiences and events.” Our motto is “Celebrating Community”, and that short phrase drives everything we do. As a former high school agriculture teacher, I was certainly passionate about that area. I always dreamed of opening a farm store when I retired, and after six years of devoting time to family commitments (post-retirement), I finally realized that dream. To make that goal even more special, I was able to purchase the old community grocery store that my uncle had managed when it opened in 1955. The building needed major renovation work, and we spent the next 9 months completing dozens of projects (mostly with community trades people). Read more>>

What would become my CorEats mission started a little over 20 years ago when I was a young, new momma. In infancy, my beautiful baby girl began displaying troubling symptoms when acid reflux would cause her bursts of uncontrollable screaming from pain. Later, a confusing assortment of reactions to immunizations, along with light & noise sensitivities developed. When she reached the age of 3, we began navigating through speech delays, temperamental mood swings, and an unsettling preliminary diagnosis of Autism. Let me tell you, this momma bear went into full fight mode. I needed answers and I needed them NOW. I was DETERMINED… This giant wasn’t going to stop us, put us in a box, or dictate our future. We were going to move through it and THRIVE… My family’s health journey was about to begin! Read more>>

The story behind my mission started when I was in high school, during a time when I was beginning to embrace my identity and express myself through my 4c hair, art, fashion, and alternating interests. One day, I made a decision: I would stop trying to fit in and embrace being myself, even if it meant standing out. At 17, I knew that I might be laughed at or perceived as weird, just like people viewed my last name. I believed in my authenticity anyway, and that I was the coolest kid ever. As an honors student, I was also (and still am) a proud nerd. Read more>>

Growing up for as long as I can remember I was drawn to visual beauty, creating art and seeing art in the nature surroundings me on the west coast. I was moved to Texas for the first time in my teenage years where my focus remained the same but I did struggle with the adjustment and change in outdoor scenery since I spent most of my time outside in my own world often drawing.
