When we go on short trips we often know exactly what we expect at the end, but when it comes to our lives and careers we’ve seen far too often we shy away from really thinking through where we expect to be at the end and what we hope our legacy will be. So, we wanted to encourage conversations on the topic of legacy and you’ll find highlights from our conversation from some wonderful members of the business and creative community below.

Hope; it doesn’t belong to me alone, but we all have access to it: a miracle given to us from God, and the reason for everything good that exists. We are in a continuous battle between fear and love, throughout our lifetimes, a struggle that challenges us to persevere. People will speak in their own language and understanding; sometimes what they say is true, and sometimes it is just a reflection of their “self”. My life is just a reflection of my “self”: imperfect, but made perfect through Christ, and I hope I am remembered for this acceptance. Read more>>

I hope to leave a strong enough legacy behind that will not only benefit my kids but also generations after them. And I truly hope that whatever legacy I do leave behind will bring people together and make the world a better place than before I left it. I hope to be remembered for being a very loving and caring father. Someone who was always there for his children and also someone who was very passionate about learning and passing on his family history for future generations. I am a firm believer that you can’t know where you are going if you don’t know where you’ve been. Read more>>

I have been thinking about my legacy since I graduated from college. During my Junior year I had created a student organization named the Progressive Black Caucus (PBC). The focus of this group was to educate and empower Black college students to address challenges impacting the African American community. While successful in hosting the 1st Distinguished Leadership Lecture Series at my college along with converting a former storage space in the Library into a student leadership meeting and study room. The organization didn’t continue after my graduation. Which forced me to think about failure around succession. Read more>>

As a writer and artist coming together, who happen to be related, we hope that all our books will live on well beyond our time on this Earth and offer entertainment, hope, and creativity to those that love reading and storytelling. With our children’s books, we hope that parents will enjoy our fun characters and heart felt stories that we have worked so hard on. We also hope that we can truly plant a seed that blossoms into a love of reading for when those same kids get older. For our young reader Sci Fi Novels, we hope to bridge the gap between kids that just aren’t that much into reading and turn them into avid bookworms. Read more>>

I hope to build a legacy for my name and family that is one of kindness, gentleness, strength, compassion, and truth. Creativity feeds into and stems out of each of those. I hope to be remembered for the impact I had on people around me – being full of joy, honest, encouraging, positive, and steadfast. Making a difference was not something I wanted to or knew how to do until around 3-4 years ago when I co-founded Silo, my creative agency. Since then, everything changed and I knew I had to stand for something. Read more>>

I am hoping to build a legacy showing how important support is in everyone’s life whether it be through business, relationships or community. When I was researching and planning my business I met with everyone I could think of and joined every group I could find to make sure my tours covered all topics from many lenses. When I take a tour through my city, my hope is that participants have a great time but that they learn a lot about our city (Spokane WA) and through this experience they genuinely care and feel a connection. I hope when I am gone that people will remember that I truly cared and supported my hometown and I was the biggest cheerleader for Spokane. Read more>>

I hope people remember me for my heart and my drive. I hope the ones that we’ve helped and the volunteer work we’ve done leaves a legacy that others can look up to. I hope my legacy is being kind, hard working, and relentless in success not only for my family but for everyone I employ as well. I want to be remembered for helping my employees and my clients win.
