We recently connected with Austin Gingerich and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Austin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I hope to build a legacy for my name and family that is one of kindness, gentleness, strength, compassion, and truth. Creativity feeds into and stems out of each of those. I hope to be remembered for the impact I had on people around me – being full of joy, honest, encouraging, positive, and steadfast.
Making a difference was not something I wanted to or knew how to do until around 3-4 years ago when I co-founded Silo, my creative agency. Since then, everything changed and I knew I had to stand for something.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Creating is an expression & extension of who I am,
For the last 4 years, I’ve felt drawn to activating creativity in people’s lives. Bringing to the surface things that they never thought they had within them. Encouraging people to pursue the path less traveled in search of treasure far greater than they thought was possible. Advocating for depth in conversations surrounding purpose and passion.
I do this through my creative community & company: Silo. Simply put, it’s a community of beautiful creatives from the South Central PA area who come together and make a safe space to freely practice and grow talents and creative endeavors. I put together/facilitate events that draw on average 80 attendees, implement social strategies, and have helped over 50+ creatives find jobs/gigs in their respective fields through consultations/networking/events.
The most exciting part about what I get to do daily is seeing people’s “aha” moments when they put the pieces together surrounding their purpose and passions and how they align. It’s so fulfilling to see people/clients finally walk confidently, pursue their creativity professionally, and figure out how to get paid doing what they love.
We are so excited for what 2024 has to offer; we plan on launching a production company, and acquiring a studio space where we can continue to grow and offer a space for our community to come create in!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I think it boils down to one word. Love. And it might be one of the hardest missions there are in the world. It’s a messy place to be, but we have the choice daily to be kind and build a better version of ourselves, and in turn pour out to the people around us.
My mission is to make people feel accepted, loved, and advocated for.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
It’s simple; the expression, community, and being there to cheer others on during their successes and lift them up during their mistakes.
