Every once in a while we have the good fortune of working on a project that we feel truly matters, a project that we’ll still be thinking about years from now. Maybe even something we can imagine telling our grandkids about – surely you’ve had moments like that where something you did in your professional life really mattered?

This body of work encompasses what life has been like for the past 2 years for me. A lot has happened in that span of time. I got married, had my son, left my job, bought a house, got my first plaque and trimmed a lot of fat all in 2 years. I’ve made sacrifices and created opportunities for myself in the past few months that I would never imagine possible. This album is a tale of meaningful sacrifice and what comes as the result when met with consistency. Read more>>

The most meaningful project I’ve worked on would by my debut feature film as a writer/director, Acid Test, which premiered at the 2021 Austin Film Festival and will be available on digital platforms fall 2022. Acid Test is a coming-of-age rebellion story fueled by Riot Grrrl music, a dysfunctional family, and LSD. Set in 1992 and based on true events from my own tumble through adolescence into adulthood. Hello and thank you for inviting me to talk with Canvas Rebel. All of my artistic projects begin with a personal connection and tell a story about who I am. The photographs I made of my family and our limited surroundings during the initial Covid-19 lockdown encapsulates the joys and challenges of my early motherhood and, thus, are the most meaningful works I have made. Making pictures for those several months helped me survive that difficult time; we had just moved across the country, we barely knew anyone in San Diego, and we were living amidst construction on our home and in our neighborhood. One of the most meaningful personal projects is a current work-in-progress Wizard of Oz-themed character shoot. It’s memorable and meaningful to me because I had been obsessed with The Wizard of Oz before I could remember. Finally, having the skills and knowledge to pull off a big photo shoot is a dream. This project let me dwell on happiness and a source of joy for me that made working on this project so exciting. Read more>>

What a great question! There are so many answer we could give which is why I think this is such a difficult question to answer. However, I think in this current moment, for us, it would be our albums title track, ‘Good Days’. My brothers and I have built our brand around encouragement and positivity. ‘Good Days’ was the song that dove down to reveal the darker mindset of what life can bring. Read more>>

I’ve been lucky enough to work on a lot of different projects and most of them were meaningful in one way or another. First feature film, first western, first time seeing my name in the credits, getting my SAG card, etc. But, at risk of sounding narcissistic, probably the one that holds the most significance is my own short film, “A Deadly Charter”, for several reasons. The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is establishing and building the cosplay community in The Bahamas with 242 Cosplayer Nation. Before 2018, cosplaying was something done either exclusively for Halloween or as an occasional challenge MUAs delved into. (Though I consider Junkanooers to be our country’s OG cosplayers). During the pandemic I started cooking recipes I found in cemeteries. It started when I was in graduate school for Library Science at the University of Maryland. I took a class where I had to create a TikTok account from scratch. That same summer I was interning at a cemetery and learning about the different types of gravestones people might be memorialized with. Read more>>

For us, it is To Die For, a four-episode web series about a hitman looking for love. The project explores love, friendship, loneliness, and the internet: all things relevant to our lives. We started working on it together about a year ago and it has been the largest production of both of our careers. The combined episodes are equivalent to a feature film, and it has been such a rewarding challenge to tackle as students working with the limited resources at our disposal. We collaborated with over sixty cast and crew members, and we cannot wait for everyone to see what we put together. Read more>>

When I had a family member that got really sick, it was a serious condition and the medical expenses were going to be astronomical. I painted a small canvas and donated some other paintings to auction off. All the proceeds went to her fund to pay for the bills. She and I were not very close, we did spend some time together when we would visit. But I knew I could do something so I did what I could, make some art. People liked them and we were able to send some money over to them to help out. Read more>>

I experienced many hardships at a young age. By the time I was 13, my parents had divorced, and I was living with debilitating migraines, anxiety, depression, and acne, among other issues. While I attribute all of these to impacting my life, acne was one of the most challenging for me. For 15 years I lived with acne, and I will likely spend the rest of my life with acne scars. This year I finished filming for a project called “Men in Blue” which is now on the film festival circuit. With my experience in the motion picture business, this film is the most meaningful project for me. I’ve started down this journey of Hip Hop culture creatives. It wasn’t intentional; it just kind of came about organically. I wanted to capture why I fell in love with Hip Hop and what the movement, the songs, and the culture meant to me. With each piece, I would submerge myself in the music, the time, the words, the life of the artist, and the music videos, and each time they would take me back to a specific moment in my life when I first heard a song or the 100 time I heard that same song. There’s a joke in the acting community about vacationing. When an actor is at home, little to no auditions. When an actor goes on vacation, they are flooded with opportunities! I’ve always been drawn to telling stories about history- knowing where we come from, what happened in the past that has aided in shaping our present state of being. We weren’t born with the privileges we have today; therefore, what was it like to be a woman in the mid 1800’s? I love asking questions then diving into the exploration through research, traveling, reading biographies- to feel grounded in the experience of another human being. I feel it creates empathy and compassion, but also a deep sense of gratitude for those who have come before me. Read more>>
