We recently connected with Mya Lamis and have shared our conversation below.
Mya, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
No, it definitely wasn’t like that from day one. My journey as a creative started simply as a way to express myself and connect with people online. I was sharing my life, my thoughts, and my experiences long before I realized it could turn into something bigger.
As my audience grew, so did the opportunities. What started as content creation eventually expanded into brand collaborations, speaking engagements, coaching, digital products, and my clothing brand, Beyond Nrml. Each step taught me more about treating creativity not just as a passion, but as a business.
One of the biggest milestones for me was learning to build multiple streams of income. Instead of relying on just one platform or opportunity, I created different ways to monetize my work from ebooks and coaching to merchandise and partnerships.
Looking back, I think I could have sped up the process if I had treated my creativity like a business earlier by building systems, products, and funnels sooner. But every stage of the journey helped shape my voice, my brand, and my mission to help others elevate and create their own path.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Mya Lamis, and I’m a content creator, entrepreneur, speaker, and coach dedicated to helping people elevate their lives and embrace their authentic selves. I built my brand, Beyond Nrml, around the idea that we don’t have to live inside the boxes society creates for us. It’s about breaking barriers, thinking differently, and creating your own path.
My journey began as a way to express myself online while navigating motherhood, marriage, and rediscovering who I was beyond those roles. Over time, my content grew into a platform centered around motivation, lifestyle, and education.
Today I create content across multiple platforms, host the podcast Beyond Nrml w/ Mya Lamis, offer Elevation Coaching for aspiring creators and entrepreneurs, and sell digital products and merchandise designed to inspire action and growth.
What sets me apart is my authenticity. I share the real journey the struggles, the lessons, and the wins because my goal isn’t just to build a brand, it’s to help others believe they can elevate their lives too.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Support smaller businesses. I get it, you want to support your favorite celebrities. The truth is we can all be financially free if we support one another. Even if it’s a simple like and comment that’s free. We put all of our money in to these big corporations that do nothing for us, the little people. If we support one another and give back, we will create a community where everyone is financially free.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is so show people that being them is enough. We don’t all have to look alike, dress alike, act alike, etc. it’s okay to explore and own your individuality, it’s what makes you, you! We live in a world that makes us feel like being us is not enough, you are not enough if you don’t have the money, chains, cars, trips, perfect body, etc but that’s not true. You are perfect just the way you are because you were created that way. You were not born to fit in, you were born to stand out.
