We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kristy & Vic Arias a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Kristy & Vic thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?

We are absolutely happier as business owners than when we had regular jobs! Vic was a bank teller and Kristy was an elementary school teacher for many years while also running our photography business on the side. We experienced having a regular job and it is so much more fulfilling to have our own business together. We primarily shoot weddings and being a part of a couples special day is the greatest privilege!

Kristy & Vic , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

We are Kristy & Vic and we are a husband and wife photography team that specializes in weddings. We absolutely love what we do and we love that we get to do it together. Capturing the most important day in a couples life is such an honor and a privilege we don’t take lightly. It started with Vic grabbing a DSLR camera back in 2009 to simply take better pictures of trips we would go on and our nephews. He fell in love with the craft and watched every video he could find while practicing constantly to get better. He eventually shot his first wedding and fell in love with wedding photography. After we got married, Kristy was able to borrow a cameras from a friend and get a crash course in photography before joining him on our first engagement session together. From that moment, I fell in love too and here we are 13 years later doing what we love full time as a husband and wife team!

We specialize in natural light photography that’s timeless, romantic, and fun! We pride ourselves in making our couples feel comfortable in front of the camera and capturing their love in a way that feels authentic to them. We strive to bring out the best in our clients by helping them feel at ease through connection we build with them.

How did you build your audience on social media?

We built our audience by showcasing ourselves and our work. We believe that people want to see humans on the other side of the screen and we show up as our authentic selves and showcase our personalities on our social media to be able to further connect with couples looking for a wedding photographer. For those staring out, we encourage you to be yourself! You will find the people that connect with you and repel those that aren’t a good fit.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

The best source of new clients is Instagram and vendor referrals. Our instagram has brought in some of our favorite couples that we’ve most connected with and vendor referrals is also a huge source of new clients for us as wedding photographers.
