Hi Dan, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
During the Covid era, I wrote five books, all of which were published by “real” publishers. One of those books was called “After They Came,” and told the story of two benevolent Aliens who come to Earth in the near future to save mankind. The book was inspired by a real life, 1970 UFO sighting I’d had with my late father, Jack, when I was 13 years old. When the book came out, it was fully embraced by the UFO Research Community, and while promoting it, I met and became friends with a man named Steve Bassett. Steve has been lobbying Congress for 30 years in hopes of advancing what’s called Capital “D” Disclosure – the acknowledgment by the U.S. President of an extraterrestrial presence long visiting the Earth. In May 2023, while Steve and I had our first lunch meeting together, he asked me, as a longtime “Hollywood Guy” what he and I could do together. At this, I recalled having handled the PR for The Environmental Media Association in 1991, so I had a lightbulb moment and replied, “We are going to create The Hollywood Disclosure Alliance.” Today the HDA is a non profit, 501 c 3 networking group comprised of 250 members around the world – the HDA networks together UFO researchers and experiencers with Hollywood writers, producers, directors and performers. It is the only group of its kind in the world, and became instantly embraced by most of the top UFO researchers in the world.
Dan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Professionally, I have been an entertainment industry Publicist for over 42 years and I own the Asbury PR Agency of Beverly Hills. Personally, I have experienced four UFO sightings – and I have also been seriously studying the UFO phenomenon for 20 years. By blending my personal interest in the UFO subject with my longtime publicity skills, I was able to create the HDA – a group that is truly unique and is actively helping to develop numerous, upcoming documentary films about the UFO topic.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I’ve been a Hollywood/entertainment industry publicist since January 1984 – but in the late 2010’s, the entertainment clients were slowing down, so I pivoted into representing restaurants. I was incredibly fortunate to have met and befriended the owners of the iconic Musso & Frank Grill – Hollywood’s oldest and most cherished restaurant, and have been their PR rep since March 2019. I handled the PR for their 100th anniversary that year, and continue to manage their media presence.
In 2023, after my UFO book was embraced by that community, I opened a second company, called The Hollywood Disclosure Alliance, a non profit, to help network UFO researchers with Hollywood producers.
More recently, in March 2025, I created and launched The WOW! Signal News, the world’s most popular UFO News website, reporting on themost current developments about UFO science and Disclosure. The WOW! Signal reports on news from around the world.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I’ve been remarkably lucky that clients in need of PR services have simply been “finding me” since I launched my own agency on Oct. 1,1996!
In the area of my UFO-related businesses, the best source of new clients and new members, is to attend high profile conferences and events, manning a booth. This is a great way to meet interesting new people from around the world in person.
