I scored my first job after months of applying before I even graduated from PA school! I interviewed for two very different specialties, Urgent Care and Aesthetic Dermatology and Wellness. I was very interested in both fields, however I had originally went into PA school with the goal in specializing in Medical and Aesthetic Dermatology. I went to both interviews, while the Urgent Care was promising and offered great educational tools, I thought to myself, if I can move forward with Aesthetics now as a new graduate, I should take this opportunity. I know that being in this position can be hard to come by, requiring that you have experience in other fields or in medical dermatology for many years before going into Aesthetics and injecting, so I decided to move forward with the Medical Spa that I am currently working in now! My very first job right after graduating esthetician school was at a chain spa, massage envy. I always knew I eventually wanted to branch off and start my Own business but I needed to first get some experience under my belt. I learned so much by working for them. Being in a busy spa meant working on all different skin types through out the day. I quickly learned how to customize each facial based on all sorts of different skin types and conditions. It became second hand nature to just know what to do for each client. It also taught me how to be vigilant with my sanitation and disinfecting process because it was such a strict spa. I got started with massage therapy an injuring by lower back during a pick up game of basketball. I dunked and landed awkwardly. I then went through weeks of physical therapy with the assistance of a walker.
