Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Carl Joyce. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Carl thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
I got started with massage therapy an injuring by lower back during a pick up game of basketball. I dunked and landed awkwardly. I then went through weeks of physical therapy with the assistance of a walker. During that time I became fascinated with the human body’s ability to heal itself and the holistic practices that help to aide that process, primarily massage therapy.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I always knew I didn’t want to live a traditional 9-5 life. I just knew it wasn’t for me. Initially I only had a strong desire to create music, before I found massage therapy. I knew I wanted to carve my own path in some way. Being self-employed now has afforded me so many lessons in both life and business. I often say “everyone says they want to be an entrepreneur until you have consecutive months of slow or no income.” You learn quickly to put away for rainy days if you can but mostly starting out depending on your startup finances there is no saving you just have to put that money right back into the business so that taught me lessons early on. Something else I love about business is it forces you out of your comfort zone because starting off you are everything from CEO to manager to marketing all the way to fiances.. You get a crash course in all aspects of business. Massage Therapy is one of those fields where you think living in a city of 6 million plus individuals would be nothing to get clients on the table but if you think that youre thinking wrong. Its strategy and marketing to everything. I found that finding that thing that makes you different in a common industry is your meal ticket and you find that and find it quick and once you find it you stick with it.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My motto is “treat people even better than they deserve to be treated and offer a great service.”
A great product or service will get people in the door but amazing customer service will bring them back.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I had to do it all over again I would choose the exact same field.
