As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

Yes, vacations are a must. I prepare for my absence well in advance. I always inform my clients about my vacation dates, and make sure everything is in place before I head out on vacation. Of course, I take vacations. Even though I’m a freelancer, if I take too long of a break, I might lose clients who seek me out, or if I don’t post regularly on my main business platform, Instagram, the exposure of my account could decrease. That’s why I usually take vacations for no longer than three days, often going to places outside the city like the beach or the mountains. Personally, I prefer the mountains over the beach. In those settings, I often find new inspiration for my work, taking lots of photos to gather ideas for my designs.
