Our stories are often hard to understand until folks understand our true motivations, our true drivers and the stories behind why our mission or purpose truly matters to us. We’ve asked some inspiring folks from the community to talk to us about why they do what they do and have shared some of our favorite responses below.

As former Assistant Principal in the DFW area, I had the opportunity of meeting so many different families over the years, and I was able to get a glimpse of the disparities regarding housing in so many of my students. I had students that lived in very affluent areas as well as students that lived in low-income areas with limited resources. I remember having a student that told me he lived in a one bed apartment with his mom, two siblings, aunt, and three cousins. Read more>>

Our mission is to empower and inspire women in the fitness community through informative, inclusive, and uplifting content. When we created Femme Fit Society, myself and co-founder Lindsey Marcelli were talking about how no one in fitness media space was talking about the REAL things we as women want to know about: like peeing during jump roping, what it’s like to be a new mom trying to get back into the gym, what it’s like to be a woman who wants to be strong versus be skinny, and so much more. This lead us to creating our own media outlet which includes a newsletter, website, social media accounts and a podcast (launching soon) to share that information. Read more>>

I started Pelican House because I wanted to bring positive change to the industry. Most swimwear is made with cheap labor over seas using virgin nylon and toxic fabric dyes and chemicals. I wanted to make the most sustainable bikini possible, using only domestically sourced recycled materials, and ethical local labor. At the same time I created designs that actually flatter many body shapes and sizes, were extremely comfortable to wear, and would bring confidence to women who wore them. Read more>>

My mission with each wedding film I create is to break the norm. I help my couples understand that their wedding film is a representation of their love, their family, and their journey. I try to shine light on the idea that your wedding film should be something your proud to share with everyone, it should help you relive your wedding day and all the emotions that happen, and it’s also a memory capsule to see all your loved ones under one roof because… who knows when they will ALL be together like that again. I create timeless films and I try to inspire people/couples through each film. Read more>>

My mission is to help people become the best they can be and create a life that is more than they imagined. Through my gym and my training I’m not only able to help my clients physically, but I am also able to coach and guide them on creating a life that they love and not settling for, a life that is less than what they feel they deserve and what they want for themselves! My mission is to start in my gym with helping them overcome physical issues, reverse health issues, and be the healthiest that they possibly can be through exercise and diet. Read more>>

The idea to make a better jumpsuit- one you could actually pee in without stripping naked- came to me in a bar bathroom when I was in college. I was out with a group of friends and a number of us were wearing rompers and jumpsuits and griping about how annoying they are when it comes time to relieve yourself. I started noticing this conversation over and over again amongst women and decided I could make something that works. Read more>>

In times where we are today, we are losing value, respect, morals, and self awareness. There is an influx on the narrative, “let people live the way they want to live”, and where that is part logical, it is more than half dangerous. When it comes to seeing the result of this overly pushed narrative, I see how it leads the youth and affect them so early. The average age of a grandmother these days is now as low as 33 years old. GRANDMOTHER, 33??!!! Huh?! Read more>>
