Hi Christina, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

As a child, I vividly recall my mother sharing stories about how she transformed her dreams into reality, particularly her ambition to create a better life in the USA, having come from Haiti. Her determination left a mark on me, and I stand here today as living proof of her belief in the power of words to shape our destiny. Her conviction that our words can manifest our reality has remained a guiding force throughout my adulthood. I made a promise to always strive for better because I recognized my worth and I wanted other women especially black women to feel the same.

So I founded BEST GIRL STORE, a self-love jewelry brand with a clear mission: to empower women through affirmations and self-love, beautifully expressed through delicate and modern statement pieces.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Christina Francois, known as Christina Fashion on social media. I am an entrepreneur and creator hailing from Miami, Florida, and I proudly identify as Haitian American and speak 3 languages (English, Creole and Spanish) . I always had a love for fashion growing up I was the type of student who would rebel against school uniform and I barely got caught for being out of dress code and I just loved being able to express myself with clothes and this lead me to joining the fashion club in high school and once the world of social media expanded I became a fashion blogger and I did that for a few years until one at university I decided to start a jewelry brand after my failed sunglasses business. I decided I wanted to create a mission driven brand that involved merging fashion and self love together and I came with the name BEST GIRL STORE with a slogan of becoming the best you. If there was one thing to know about me I’ve always been into self improvement and personal growth because I was inspired from my mom and my faith in God.

So far we have been able to inspire and create impact on 200+ women around the world and contribute annually to local charity and we hope to do more.

Another thing I am proud of is my YouTube channel: Christina Fashion where I share Behind the scenes of my business and I have been able to grow the channel past 10K and help so many small business start their own jewelry business.

Not only am I happy with myself on paper but I am happy i am doing the work and elevating to the women I desire to be and I wish that for everyone.

Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.

When I first started sourcing product I was very unsure where to find a reliable supplier so I did turn to google search and I did some digging around with the little information out there and I came across a vendor on Alibaba.com and I took a leap of faith to test our their sample and It was great so I took my drawings and I sent it to over the manufacturer and there were able to create my prototype and I was excited to share that with everyone on social media and from their I slowly learned about CAD, Designing jewelry , molding , copy right etc. One important thing i learned is protect your designs by providing your manufactured with NDA contract to avoid theft.

How did you build your audience on social media?

Initially I started growing my jewelry brand on Instagram by promoting my new launch via social groups, twitter , friends and attending marketplaces . But most importantly telling your story and telling it consistently helped me to connect to an audience which helped us grow and now in 2023 the algorithm has changed and now we are working on expanding our brand to tik tok and consistently showing up there but also nurturing our existing audience via newsletter and Instagram. One advice I would give is know where your audience hangs out and show up there.
