When times are good it’s easy to feel like entrepreneurship is the only path for you, but what about the times when your hit with multiple crises at once? We wondered if all entrepreneurs have moments when they wonder whether they should have gone with (or stuck to) a more standard job where they worked for someone else.

Owning my professional home organizing business has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. While there are certainly benefits to a regular office job—like stability and a set routine—at the end of the day, I love being a business owner for so many reasons.
One of the greatest benefits of being a business owner is having the freedom to make my own decisions. I get to shape the direction of my business, set my own goals, and create a service that reflects my passion for organization and helping others. Read more>>

I couldn’t be happier as a business owner. I never thought that this would be the route that I would take, but 5 years in, I wouldn’t want it any other way. I am a Marine Corps Combat Veteran so hard work is nothing new to me. But for over a decade I had “regular” jobs and I always do my best. But the opportunity for growth and advancement were scarce. I got tired of breaking my back for other people. Now when I get home and I’m hurting and exhausted, I know it was for me. I don’t remember where I saw it but one of my favorite quotes is “Start building your dreams, or someone will hire you to build theirs.”, and I couldn’t agree more. Today, I don’t think I could go back to a regular job. Read more>>

I am deeply passionate about entrepreneurship, though I recognize that it comes with both its pros and cons. While I personally would not consider a traditional job unless required, I understand the appeal of a stable guaranteed income. There’s no shame in working a 9-to-5; in fact, many successful individuals generate multiple streams of income. However, doing so requires dedication, discipline, and careful decision-making. I’ve never had a “regular” job. I could never have a “regular” job.
There are no days off in a small business. I’ve ordered flowers at the bar, answered emails at 11pm, and spent countless hours editing photos for social media. Mullica Hill Floral Co. is an extension of myself
Having your own business is both a proud and humbling experience. I do envy my friends for being able to clock out and end their work day at a set time. They have the stability and security that a small business isn’t always afforded. And while all jobs have stressors, being responsible for an entire business is daunting. Read more>>

I started this business out of being fired without a reason from my previous job. I decided it was time that I worked on my own although I knew I had basically no experience growing a business. I knew the basics and I knew what I wanted to do but I also knew that taking the risk of not getting a job after being fired was gonna force me to push my limits further. I had listened to a lot of audiobooks about entrepreneurs and how to make business in the couple of years prior to that so I knew my mindset was strong but girl was I unprepared for the emotional rush that comes from raising a business from the ground up. I had zéro sales on my website, only a few on my Etsy, a list of email of under 100 but a lot of will and determination. Read more>>

Being a business owner is one of the most rewarding and challenging things we’ve ever done. There’s a deep sense of fulfillment in creating something of our own—building relationships with incredible people/couples, documenting love stories, and knowing that our work will be cherished for generations. Being a business owner is tough, you are literally in charge of everything! Marketing, sales, pricing, customer service, phone calls, emails, and in my field booking and performing appointments. There is no one else there to make any decision for you or for you to turn to when something goes wrong, it all falls on you; the good and the bad! Everyday I get to make my own schedule, pick and choose what type of clients I want to see and services I would like to perform, and I have extreme flexibility by being my own boss and 99.9% of the time I would choose it again day in and day out. However, as of recent I did have an incident where for a split moment I thought that having what one might consider a “normal” or “regular” job would be easier! I had a difficult client that didn’t understand the circumstances of the situation or outcome that we got. Read more>>
