Internships and apprenticeships, when done right, give interns and apprentices life long lessons. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, these opportunities aren’t accessible to many and so we wanted to invite folks who have had these experiences to share some of the lessons they’ve learned.

I was an apprentice in 2020 when I began my Real Estate Career. It paid off tremendously for myself and the clients I serve. Grateful to have had this opportunity as I am now doing the same for a new Agent on my team! Also, I am currently mentored every 2 weeks – and he challenges me to get out of my comfort zone and be my ‘future self’. It’s amazing the impact and success this has cultivated. Now, I am currently hosting an intern from the local school district every semester. I teach them Real Estate, how to run and manage a business, along with personal growth and accountability. It’s all about paying it forward, and what started as being an apprentice has become a life long of learning and opportunity for myself, my clients, the industry, and community. Read more>>

I can’t stress enough how important I feel it is to work as an intern or apprentice for another realtor or ideally a team of realtors before going out on your own. Real estate is a strange business as every transaction is unique since you are dealing with so many people. The training you will get on how to handle some very difficult situations is invaluable and can save you down the road when it’s now your neck trying to solve the problem. I was so lucky to work on a huge team for 5 years before I started my own team. I’d recommend at least 2. The most difficult transactions for me have been when the other agent is new and thinks we need to fight over every single detail. With experience you will learn better ways to handle these situations that are stressful for all involved. Read more>>

My journey into photography and film began long before I stepped foot in college. In 2016, I started my journey into photography, fueled by a passion for capturing moments and telling stories through images, it soon became my humble small business. At the same time, I began making videos, which blossomed into a love for filmmaking and editing. That was just the beginning… By 2019, I was ready to take my passion to the next level. I entered college with a clear vision of my future, but it wasn’t until I met some of the most determined professors that I truly found my path. Their enthusiasm and expertise ignited my passion for film, solidifying my decision to declare it as my major. Read more>>

I had two internships which were life-changing experiences for my design career and personal growth. First, I worked at a startup that taught me the value of storytelling in presentations. In an engineering-driven company, impactful presentations really make people pay attention to what you’re sharing. Communicating with teams that speak different “languages” was part of the challenge, and wearing multiple hats showed me the importance of being flexible and multifaceted. In my second internship, I had the chance to work collaboratively with designers and learn from their processes. It was fascinating to see how people tackle the same tasks and their approaches to time efficiency. I learned about the importance of clear communication and not being afraid to ask questions. When people around you are willing to help, they’ll show you every aspect of their process because experience has taught them its value. Read more>>
