Social media can be a really powerful way to connect with and build deeper relationships with your audience – but it can be extremely time consuming. So, we asked some folks we admire to share how they manage their social profiles and whether they’ve hired professionals to help.

I hired someone to manage my social media, specifically Instagram. She is a friend and she started by giving me pointers and I quickly realized the amount of time it took to produce so I hired her. My results have been amazing for my market. I am not looking for 10,000 followers, I am looking to reach my limited client base and I have increased my visibility and stay in front of my clients in a clever way. Lessons I have learned: know your market, be your genuine self, and getting someone who knows social media to manage your account is a game changer. Read more>>

I manage my own social media sites! I decided to manage it myself from the beginning of starting my business. I like things to be attractive and organized. If i did not run it myself I would be concerned about how it looks constantly, including the feed and posts itself. Running my own social media has been working positively for me. I love reading the insights of how many people have reached my posts, how many shares and follows i receive. If there are any other business thinking about running a social media page, I would highly recommend it! It helps reach a wider audience and you can share any ideas you may have. A helpful tip would also be to use hashtags and add your location to posts. Use hashtags that are relevant to your products or services and for your location it doesn’t have to be a pin pointed location, but just the city you’re located in! Read more>>

We have done a little bit of both during our twelve years in business! We originally had our social media coordinator in-house, but as we experienced more growth, we decided to hire someone to help us. That worked for about a year, but in our business, we are in so many spaces that we felt like it was better to go back to in-house. That said, we are learning as we go, and certainly aren’t experts in that realm yet. But we have recently made it to 10k followers, which has been a long-time goal! Read more>>

I do manage my own social media, but I am very fortunate and lucky that my partner, Lauren, is not only an outstanding creative talent and photographer, but was also a marketing and social media directer (and eventually a VP) at an agency in Los Angeles before we moved here. She knows how to feed the algorithm. She taught me everything I know in order to run it myself, but it is exhausting. I am a bit of a control freak, which is why I continue to do it, but if I had to do it all again without Lauren, I would 100% hire someone(s) else to manage it. Read more>>

As a real estate agent with a passion for personal branding and connecting with clients, managing my own social media has been an integral part of my success. When I started my career and online store, I faced budget constraints that prevented me from hiring a social media manager. However, that limitation turned into an opportunity as I embarked on a journey to become the voice of my brand on social media. Initially, the idea of managing my own social media seemed daunting. I had limited knowledge of the platforms and tools available, but my determination to create a strong personal brand pushed me to educate myself. Countless hours were spent watching tutorials on YouTube, and I honed my design skills using Canva to craft eye-catching graphics and visuals for my posts. Read more>>

I have managed most of my social media myself until recently. I just hired a personal assistant to help carry some of the load. I chose to manage my own accounts first because I understand what I was trying to share the best. I wanted everything to be personally touched by me. Results wise, I have grown my personal page tremendously, I am currently growing my business page, and I have a new business page about to drop. The best insight I can give business owners who are looking to get into what I do is, be yourself and find a flow that works for you. Once you take the pressure off yourself and really just share what you want to share it will become easier to plan ahead and connect with your audience. Read more>>

I manage my entire social media presence from creating the content, to posting it, to interacting with others through those various social channels, etc. As an elder millennial, social media has always been pretty fluid for me since back in the MySpace days, so not only am I comfortable using it, but I also enjoy using it. I feel anything we enjoy doing we’ll naturally have a knack of doing well. Those things considered, I would feel it would be a waste of my time and money handing that duty over to someone else that I myself am perfectly capable of and enjoy doing. There’s a creative aspect that goes into creating what you post and I love doing that, plus I’m a naturally extraverted person so I enjoy socializing with others and connecting, even if it’s through a screen.
