Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Xavier Bennett. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Xavier, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
I’ve been misunderstood most of my life. People can look at you strange when you think outside of the box or outside of the normal way of thinking within the minds and groups you can be around day to day. Growing up I was usually the only one working on music and short films in the schools I was in, nowadays I feel like I’m one of the few in my area that is involved with A.I. filmmaking, short films, skits, music, fun collaborations, alternative therapies, and conspiracy theories. When you’re following your heart creatively, it’s great to fully understand the audiences and demographics you’re aiming for but at the same time it’s important to not overthink on your projects to where they never get released. I like to put a time frame on my ideas and I enjoy testing new ideas out on the public. If you want to make noise and be groundbreaking as a creative, you have to understand that you’ll be misunderstood at times and that is okay. Everyone has different tastes. Art is subjective. You have to understand how the human mind works and you cannot be too worried about what one person thinks out of the millions of people out there you can present your work to. In this time you have to be consistent if you want to stand out and you cannot be scared of how people think of you, especially if you believe in your product or art.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I’m Xavier Bennett! I’m a tastemaker and content creator from the Cleveland, Ohio area. I grew up in Lorain surrounded by creativity. My mother loved art, and Sundays at church with my grandmother filled my life with live music. Those early experiences inspired me to express myself creatively.
As I got older, I was influenced by my family’s love for music, film, fashion, and travel. I was exposed to genres like jazz, soul, funk, R&B, and Latin music, along with film and video game soundtracks that sparked my love for orchestral sounds.
I started with violin and choir as a kid, then later connected with hip-hop through my brothers, inspired by artists like JAY-Z, Kanye West, and Charles Hamilton. Around that time, I also began exploring content creation as I started diving into writing, filming, editing, photography, and more.
By age 12, I was recording and mixing my own music and editing my own videos. In middle and high school, I released music, performed live, created videos, and worked on film projects. I went on to graduate from Kent State University with a degree in Business, while building experience in marketing and content creation with media outlet I’m From Cleveland and my own projects.
What helped shape me incredibly was working with major label artist Charles Hamilton who was signed to Interscope & Republic Records. Throughout my 20s, I got to collaborate and work on many projects with Charles. He inspired and motivated me greatly for many years, especially in my teenage years. I’ve worked on film and TV projects, released music, modeled for brands like Nike and Adidas, and collaborated with companies on creative campaigns.
Today, I continue to create content, put out viral videos, release music, and work with brands and creatives across Ohio, around the United States and internationally.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to learn how to stop wasting time. I’ve always believed in what Bob Proctor talked about, how consistent repetition shapes behavior, but I look at it as more than just doing something over and over. To me, it’s about training your mind and identity. When you show up daily and repeat a behavior with intention, it stops feeling like effort and starts becoming part of who you are. At that point, it’s no longer discipline, it’s just your standard.
So instead of relying on motivation, I focus on building systems and habits that run automatically. That’s what creates consistency, and consistency is what drives real results over time.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I’m here to remind the people that they can follow their hearts, listen to their intuition, and respect those gut feelings we’re often taught to ignore.
I want people to feel free to express themselves creatively without fear, because that’s where real healing and identity come from. I’m here to advocate for alternative approaches to healing, with methods of coping and growth that create real, lasting transformation rather than just temporary relief.
I’m here to help the people reconnect with who they are. I’m here to wake the people up to who they truly are.
