Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vivi Carrasco. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Vivi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
We’ve all heard it before, but the definition of success does vary depending on the person. Regardless of what it looks like/how it’s defined, I do believe that most of us won’t get far on motivation alone. I’ve learned over the past couple of years that reaching success (in most areas of life) requires discipline.
Discipline actually doesn’t come naturally to me, but I notice that as I implement it more and more into my life, I begin to crave it! Whether that’s crossing off the promises I put on my to-do list for the day or sticking to a morning walk/meditation, discipline starts to become something more life-giving than draining.

Vivi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
A little about me: I’m an Atlanta-native, University of Georgia graduate and all-around creative. In my work, I’ve combined my background in social media marketing and creative strategy with my photo and graphic design experience to create versatile content tailored to each client.
When it comes to photography, I have a hand in the entire life cycle of a photoshoot from concept to casting to styling to art direction to shooting, and through to post-production. I thrive when I can collaborate with other creatives, and I love working with brands and labels whose products and pieces and/or missions inspire me.
I’m honored to create a joyful environment for my clients when we shoot! Whether I am creating for a brand, capturing a wedding, or styling a fashion shoot, I try to invoke an organic, imaginative and bespoke style.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Up until recently, I’d been craving a change, particularly in my career, and very much feeling like I was in an in-between state. I was ready for the next chapter! Not long after, my agency had to cut budgets, and I went from full to part-time.
It didn’t feel like a loss. Yes, I’d have to be more attentive with finances, but wasn’t this the change I’d been asking for? It pushed me to pursue freelance more wholeheartedly. Despite having a lot of experience in photography, it felt like starting fresh. Finding my own leads and forming new connections can be a challenge, but it’s the one “yes” that counts.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth will always hold the most power, in my opinion. A connection plays to your advantage in pretty much every field of work, including photography. Not only do I want to create beautiful imagery for a client, but I want to leave a good impression on them personally. Kind people want to work with kind people!
Outside of this strategy, I contact brands via social media or email, and I host test shoots with models to grow our portfolios and build a name.
