We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Violet Trujillo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Violet below.
Hi Violet, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
After one year of community college back in my hometown. I knew the path I was on was not for me so as soon as that semester finished I packed my bags and moved to San Antonio to pursue my dream as a portrait photographer. I remember being so young and so scared, but it was all worth it.

Violet, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Of course! Hi guys, my name is Violet Trujillo and I am a portrait photographer based in South Texas. I’ve been shooting for almost 10 years and you can find my work in Vogue, Forbes, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema + other small local/international magazines. I started picking up a camera in 2006 and began taking photographs for my friends and family but didn’t pursue a professional career until I was 21. My main focus is portraiture but I also enjoy shooting nature and street photography. I am currently working on a photo book that I hope to complete by the end of 2024. I love a good hike, good food + spending time with those I love.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Oh definitely! When I started my journey in photography social media hadn’t taken off like it has today. Youtube was a place of music and funny videos, versus now that’s full of education and tutorials. If these tools were present earlier for many of us, maybe our journey would have been smoother.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Getting the chance to expand my imagination while allowing others to see the deep depths of my heart and mind. I think its beautiful to create something that can inspire or make someone feel something, whether its happiness or sadness, nostalgia, etc. It’s also a way to connect with others on a deeper level.
