We were lucky to catch up with Vanessa Solis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Vanessa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned while working at a prior job?
I’d say one of the most impactful experiences in how I run my business today actually comes from my time serving as an elementary educator.
Before I ever designed, coordinated & planned events, I was an elementary classroom teacher. Each year I was met with a class full of different personalities, learning styles, strengths, and struggles. I felt my role wasn’t just to teach a specific lesson, topic, or testing material. I aimed for what students needed to understand and that included how they processed information, what was going to excite them, what challenged them, and how to present ideas in a way that clicked for them.
What I didn’t realize at the time was how directly those skills and goals would translate into entrepreneurship.
I approach every client in a similar way that I approached my students. No two events and no two clients are ever the same. Some clients need structure and step-by-step guidance. Others are visual and need to see the vision come to life. Some feel overwhelmed and need reassurance, while others are ready to dive into the details.
My job is to meet them where they are.
I take the time to understand their goal, their story, their priorities, and even their stress points so I can tailor the planning process in a way that feels approachable, enjoyable, and hopefully fun. Just like in the classroom, if people feel supported and engaged, everything flows better.
The biggest lesson I carried from my time in the classroom over to my business is that connection comes before execution.
You can have the most beautiful plan, timeline, or design, but taking the time to understand the purpose and the people you’re serving is where the opportunity to create something meaningful lies.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Vanessa, and I’m the owner of Party Vault Eventures, where we specialize in helping people celebrate moments that matter without the stress that usually comes with party planning.
My journey into this industry was pretty unique. Like many in 2020, there was a quick pivot due to events and I soon realized how valuable time is and how important it is to be present and create meaningful memories with the people we love. That realization led me to take a huge leap of faith and work toward building something centered around joy, connection, and celebration.
What began as a small family hobby of offering picnic setups quickly evolved into an event rental service and shortly after into a full-service event planning company that serves both locals and visitors in the Austin, Texas area.
Whether it’s a wedding, milestone celebration, or corporate event, our goal is to take the pressure off our clients so they can actually enjoy the experience they’ve worked so hard to create.
I feel like one of the biggest problems we solve is overwhelm.
Many of our clients come to us feeling stressed, short on time, or unsure how to bring their vision to life. They’re juggling busy schedules, decision fatigue, and the fear of missing important details. That’s where we step in not just as planners, but as guides. We simplify the process, provide clarity, and create a plan that feels doable.
What sets us apart is the way we combine structure with creativity. We aim to make the process feel less intimidating and more like a collaborative experience. We’re also big on relationships. From our clients to our vendor partners, we believe in building genuine connections that lead to smoother events and better overall experiences.
What I’m most proud of is the impact we’ve been able to make through beautiful events. Seeing our clients’ reactions always remind me why I choose to do this work week after week.
I want people to know that Party Vault Eventures is about creating experiences that bring beautiful memories they can carry with them long after the event is over.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
One of my go-to books that I feel has made an impact on my entrepreneurial mindset and how I manage my business is The 12 Week Year by Brian Moran.
As a business owner, it’s easy to fall into the trap of long-term planning without consistent execution. What this book challenged me to do was rethink time altogether. Instead of operating on a traditional 12-month calendar, it encourages you to treat every 12 weeks as if it were a “year.” This structure shifts the focus and accountability on goals you’ve set for yourself and your business.
I work with timelines all the time where we’re trying to execute for a single important day, but I wasn’t applying that concept into my business goals because I thought everything had to be done simultaneously or in a perfect position, which is silly when I look back at my thought process. This book helped me shift to the idea that execution of business goals matter more than many ideas or the perfect time to work on those ideas. Plus, it made me think about the daily actions that needed to happen in order to get to the bigger vision.
I love that it’s not just motivation, it’s a system. And one that can be applied to anyone or any business. As someone who naturally wears many hats and loves the creative side of my job, this resource helped me move from feeling overwhelmed to being intentional with my time and efforts.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is pretty simple, although maybe not always easy.
I treat each event like it’s my own. I love being involved in the process and seeing the final outcome and I think this has built a genuine trust with both clients and vendors.
Details matter in this industry and emotions can run high at times. At the end of the day, people don’t just remember how an event looked, they remember how they felt. I want my clients to feel supported, and my vendors treated like the superstars that they are.
I go the extra mile because, to me, it’s not just another event, it’s someone’s wedding, baby shower, graduation, gala, community fundraiser, or once-in-a-lifetime moment. And happy clients will share their experience with friends and family. A vendor who enjoys working with you recommends you to their next client. Over time, those relationships start to create a strong referral network and that has been impactful for my business because when everyone feels respected and supported, it reflects in the final outcome.
