Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Triveda Harris. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Triveda, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you got your first non-friend, non-family client. Paint the picture for us so we can feel the same excitement you felt on that day.
How I got my first client came from a podcast interview that I had done with the host as I was a guest on her show. I had mentioned that I had just started my business and I was looking to share what I had taught myself with others. Also offer my services to those who did not want to do the work themselves of the editing and formatting work that I would be happy to do it for them. A few months later she sent me a message on Facebook and asked a few questions about my services and fees. I was excited because she remembered me and secondly, she considered me and thirdly she decided that she wanted to work with me and it was and absolutely beautiful experience from start to finish. I will admit though I was faced with a few challenges not anything that had to do with her or the book itself. Life in general. My mom was entering into her final stage of life during the time I was to start receiving submission chapters for the book and I did not have my laptop with me because I had left work and went right to the facility to be with my mom. I had my daughter bring my laptop to me and I worked on the book proofreading, editing, formatting and putting it all together to meet the deadline that my client wanted her book completed. I prayed and God guided me through every step of the way. She was my client who has since become my friend and little sister.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Triveda Harris, a stroke survivor, Chiari Malformation warrior, self-published author, podcast, host, publisher, motivational speaker, and the most important of them title is mom. I am a mom of 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren. I got started in the publishing industry because for years I had shared my poetry on my Facebook page and was often asked when my book was coming out. I had no intentions on ever doing it. However, my best friend and God had other plans for me. I was stuck in my bedroom after my daughter’s appointment, and I had nothing else to do but either watch tv or work on doing my poetry book. So, I prayed and said to God if this is in His plans for me then the book will be accepted, I don’t know what I am doing and I know it does not look like much. I will work until I figure out how to do it the right way. That is how it started in January 2020 and in December of 2021 I started my business. What sets me apart from others is that I lead with the purpose in which I started and my reason why I started which is rooted in transforming one’s life through storytelling. In my life I have lived the experiences I share with my clients and I always try my best to show compassion, empathy and support from start and I don’t like to say finish because the relationship does not end the project is just completed and we just wait until it is time for the next one to begin. My clients are always able to reach out to me and not feel like they bothering me and I think that is another thing that sets me apart for others in this business. I also take accountability for my actions. I try to always make sure that my clients feel seen and feel heard. I give them an opportunity to be seen and heard on my podcast show Believe in The Journey. I let them know what to look out for when people don’t have their best interest in mind. I help them to see the value within themselves beyond that moment. I walk with God and I want those to know that when they walk with me, they too will be walking with Him because with God included, we will always be covered and walking in Faith and covered by Grace. Wings Of Transformation Publishing LLC is more than just about publishing books for me it is about helping both women and men know that their lives are the blueprint that someone needs to get through one of the toughest seasons in their life. Which means their Testimony is life changing for someone and someone is wanting on then to just write the book. I am here to help the do just that.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I have only been in business for four and half years, so I am still learning and building my business. There have been many times that I have wanted to give in however, I can’t do that because God did not save my life on several occasions for me do that. He said be patient and trust the process. So, I have had to learn when to sit still and wait. I know that I am not the right fit for every person who wants to publish a book. I had to learn that lesson in my first year not to be so eager to have a client that people will take advantage. My first year I did not have any clients at all. I only sold my books that I had written. The second year mostly the same thing just selling my books. my third year in business I got my first client, and it has been growing slowly and I am grateful for the pace because it is only one of me and I know that when God gets ready to expand my business He will provide me with the staff as well. I am patient.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I am not a very creative person myself but for those that are just like me I do not look for flashy or trending things. I stay true to who I am, and I think that throws many people off these days. They cannot understand that. They don’t know how to stand out by standing alone and it seems weird to them. I have been talked about so much with my first book because by most publishing businesses they want perfection and it is far from that. I was being Obedient to God’s Instructions which was just do it and I did. If I had not followed God’s instructions, I would not be in this position that I am in right now. I have self-published 7 books, helped 4 women become published authors, others who have utilized my other services.
