We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Treniece Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Treniece , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
It’s takes determination and follow through to be successful at anything you want to do in life. There are two things I can remember as a kid I always wanted to do and have, and that’s dance and run my own business, I currently am doing both. Being a plus size dancer you’re told no a lot and people always underestimate you but with dedication and sticking with it I have proven people wrong. I am now apart of a professional dance team called Curvy Queenz of Dallas. This team is very motivating in all aspects of my life including how to properly run my Jewelry business and push through all obstacles that come my way, never giving up.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am currently a professional dancer of Curvy Queenz of Dallas, where our motto is Dance has no size. I joined this team just going for tryouts with my best friend who wanted to try something different, but me on the other hand I have always loved dance and took this as an opportunity to live out a childhood dream. Since being on the team my confidence has boosted and I have learned the ins and outs of business from the director Gladys. She motivates me to continue to build my Jewelry business and to push through all obstacles no matter what comes my way. I started my jewelry business as an expression of my mood and style of dress, similar to dance, which is an art form of many moods and styles. I’m glad that I am able to motivate women of all ages and size to follow your dream no matter what others my say or what you think you can’t do, you want know until you try. Why put off tomorrow what you can start today?

How did you build your audience on social media?
I am building my social media by creating content in advance, so that you can post everyday on schedule without always coming up with new content every day.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
There was a time when I purchased more than what I needed and created more than needed. My sales were low but I continued to post my products and found vendors spot that I could sell my products until it was all gone. I didn’t give up when my sales dropped.
