Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Socorro Reyes Ramirez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Socorro , thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Last year, I created what I became my first art installation in which I participed as performance artist and also collaborate with other local artists. Although at first I was afraid of being rejected, I decided to move forward using my own resources. I applied for grants to support the project, but they were not approved, and for a moment I thought I would not be able to carry it out due to lack of funding. However, I did not give up. I reached out sponsors I had previously worked with to cover the basic expenses of the event, and with additional material donations from friends and family the , project wa succesfullu realized. The event took place on June 27, 2025 and was titled “The Ceremony of the 4 Elements”. It marked the first time I presented myself as performance artist. The project was conceived as an art installation that seeks to reconnect people with encourage respect for Mother Nature through the symbolic representation of the Earth’s elements. The event was very well received and warmly applauded by the audience, and this year I will be presenting “The Ceremony of the 4 Elements 2026”.The applause and support from the audience became one of the most meaningful achievements of my artistic path. Artistically and symbolically, this experience changed my life and will always live in my heart.

Socorro , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a swimmer in an infinite ocean of creativity, a Multimedia Artist , I was born in Veracruz, Mexico, and rooted in Kansas City, I navigate the currents of art with freedom and fluidity, letting symbols guide me like constellations in the deep. My work is a conversation between the roughness of materials and the stories they hold, between the spaces they inhabit and the eyes that encounter them. I create across mediums: drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, murals, installations, and performance, each one a vessel for meaning. I embrace everyday materials as sacred tools, breaking the walls of tradition to invite the viewer into an experience where art is alive and breathing. Every piece I create is a seed, planted with the hope that it will grow into a legacy of shared imagination.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2026, I will be oficially marking 20 years of artistic practice. This artistic path has not been easy, as artists and creatives often face a career with limited demand and intense competition. Rejection has been a constant part of this journey. When I was younger, it was deeply painful to apply for opportunities and repeatedly not be sellected or accepted. I share this story because I know many artists go through the same experience. After so many years, I learned to see rejection as experience and to understand that being turned down by certain institutions did not diminish the value of my artistic creation. I decided to begin moving forward with my owm voice, to seek opportunities on my owm, and to create projects using my owm resources, without pretension. It was then that I felt true strength arrive, by honoring my art for what is, rather than what others wanted it to be. Thanks to this, here I am 20 years continuing to create projects day by day, working to leave a mark on the world. This has always been one of my greatest goals, and I will continue pursuing it for as long as Mother Nature allows.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I have always dreamed of leaving my mark on this world through my art, one of my most meaningful professional goals. Each day, I strive to learn and to share the knowledge I have gathered along the way: this is one of my core missions.
