Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sierra Lynn Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Sierra Lynn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned to do what I do through a mix of personal discovery, consistency and a lot of hands on practice. Early on I didn’t know exactly what I was doing or where I was going, but I knew singing/playing guitar, songwriting and performing felt like my purpose. It just felt right, and to this day it still does. Once I learned guitar and started performing live my skill and confidence really started to develop.
Looking back I honestly wouldn’t change a thing, I love who I am today and I became who I am by going through everything I’ve been though. That being said, I definitely believe there are things I could have done that would have helped tremendously. One is seeking mentorship and a group of positive supportive people to surround myself with, its so important. Another is being more open to messing up sometimes and receiving constructive criticism (from the right people of course).
The most essential skills I’ve learned have been discipline, patience, being open to trying new things and ALWAYS believing in myself.
As for obstacles, self-doubt was a big one for me. Always thinking I should be better than I am, farther along, more accomplished. I had moments I wondered if I was even on the right path and thought of just giving up pursuing my music career. Yet, I couldn’t, I always came back to it. It’s a part of me, my God given talent and I’m blessed to be able to share that with the world.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Sierra Lynn, I am a singer, songwriter, musician who’s main passion is creating meaningful experiences through my performances. Being able to connect with people, bring joy to their lives through music is such a beautiful privilege and I am so grateful to have been given this talent.
My sound/genre is soul/pop/rock, I am inspired by Amy Winehouse, Micheal Jackson, Etta James, Alicia Keys and so many more. I currently perform all over Texas, I do solo shows often but can also do duo, trio and full band shows. I am also currently recording my next album and can’t wait to share my new music with the world.
I am most proud that I never gave up, through all the hard times, lonely times, trying times, I never gave up on my craft.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is being able to connect with so many people and bring a little joy into their life with my music.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I think society can value musicians and the arts way more because it is truly a vital part of all peoples lives. I hope one day musicians and creatives are paid more, to be more equal to their talent and what they put in. Its not an easy job but I can say from experience it is so rewarding.
