We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Siera Mhalla a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Siera thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
My mother is my greatest influence and hero. She came out of a small city with a small mindset, traveled to a whole new continent and built an empire on her own. She had me young so I was with her through her college days, her first jobs, to building one of the biggest tour operators/travel agencies with no help and no short cuts. I watched my mother persevere to build her empire basically on her own. I know that her strength, ambition, has had a lasting impact on me and my continuous success.
Too many lessons learned being by her side, but mainly the fact that you can start all over at any time and it is never too late to do something new. My mother was originally an architect but somehow, managed to end up in sales and later on started a successful travel business.
Same for me, I studied Hospitality, got an MBA in Hotel management, managed hotels but I transitioned my experience into the entertainment world by starting a talent management business and producing a multitude of successful events.
Simultaneously, I also built a luxury concierge agency and now starting a brand-new Luxury Real Estate Career in Dubai.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Currently, I run few of my own businesses. A luxury concierge agency, an events agency and most recently luxury real estate in Dubai. I also support couple of artists, which allows me to stay involved with my passion, Music. Down the line, I am looking to add a high-end staffing business to my portfolio since I have noticed it’s a much-needed service in the UAE.
My background in Los Angeles was primarily music and hospitality which I have successfully led for several years. Being that Dubai was the next most attractive fast-growing city, it felt just right to expand businesses there.
Additionally, since one of the most lucrative industries in Dubai is Real Estate, it only made sense for me to get into it as well!
I have joined Lux Folio Real Estate and decided to focus on Palm Jumeirah which is pretty much the Beverly Hills of Dubai. Clients contact me for any Villa or apartment sales and rentals in this very high-end area.
Whether you want to invest in Dubai and get a good return, you wish to make it your new home or just coming for few weeks on vacation, I’ll be the one to assist. I offer long and short-term rentals for some of the most exclusive properties in the City.
What sets me apart from other agents is my experience in luxury and hospitality. Most real estate agents will just provide you with the property, whereas booking it through me will come with all its luxury services.
I genuinely care for my clients, always go above and beyond to get the best prices, customize any needs, provide my villas with the option of having the ideal staff, best chefs, drivers and most importantly make myself available throughout the process and any time after.
My clients know they can always reach me and count on me throughout their journey.
I currently have a portfolio of over 50 of the best villas and penthouses on the Palm, as well as able to assist with some of the best hotel reservations. Therefore, anyone traveling to Dubai, I’ll be your person.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I spent over a decade building a career and an entire life in Los Angeles where I had it all. An amazing career, the lifestyle I always dreamed of, the friendships, the connections, the brand I worked so hard to build and much more. All of it got taken away from me in a blink of an eye due to immigration laws, and I could do nothing about it which was truly devastating.
Despite this major setback in my life of having to lose it all, I was resilient enough to accept the situation, travel across the world to the Middle East on my own, and start all over again.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I never had much financial capital to start a business, it has always been savings from my previous jobs to get me by. My real capital has primarily always been my relationships and connections to people globally. I have always prioritized a lot of my personal time being there for others, networking, building and nurturing friendships.
I slowly grew my career by surrounding myself with successful people, who have always been open to listening to my ideas and business pitches.
Like any industry, the key is to have a supportive network of people that are willing to invest and support my ideas.
The process to success with a good circle is what I enjoy the most!
