We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sherri Welser. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sherri below.
Alright, Sherri thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I have always loved art and music and wanted to find a way to creatively and uniquely incorporate both and so my vintage art guitars began. I design using repourposed electric guitars and pick a theme ( examples are Harley Davidson Motorcycle, Route 66, Indian Motorcycle ect.) I create the designs using vintage items, vintage jewelry, unique embellishments, glass beads , tiles ,stained glass ect . I love to find unique vintage items at flea markets , antique and thrift stores . I have done many custom guitars for clients such as Firefly Distillery, Black Dog Salvage , breweries and music venues as well as the private collector. I truly love combining my love for art and music in a beautiful unique way !

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Being a creative person I truly love being able to express myself through mixed media art combining many types of techniques, paints , papers, fabric , really anything is fair game as far as im concerned! I have truly been blessed with being able to create, teach and share my love of art. I have been featured in many national magazines for my work in mixed mefia art including jewelry In publications such as Somerset Studio, Apprentice, Mingle , Green Trends, Jewelry Affaire and Belle Armoire Jewelry just to name a few . I love to share my work with others and have taught at art workshops, art retreats ,art conferences and through on line videos. Art helps to heal and gives people a special creative outlet to express their feelings and emotions. I have created workshops as well for the medical/ Healthcare workers in hopes of helping to create a saf,e place of creativity to decompress, renew and unwind .

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
It is my hopes that people realize that art can be used as a healing tool . You dont have to create for anyone but yourself. There is no wrong way to create ..its about finding ways to soothe your soul and find inner peace through your creative moments.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being able to give others the tools to help them step outside of “societies box” and create and enjoy their own process of healing and growth . People put so much pressure on themselves to do something well when in reality it just about doing something expressive for themselves. Living a creative life is a beautiful experince but you have to be able to step outside of your box to be daring and brave .You never know the lives you might touch by the creations you put out into the universe as well .. little or big it all makes a beautiful difference !
