Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sharrel Abel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sharrel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?

What started me into photography hmm, well I started doing modeling to prove a point to my niece and daughters that no matter your age, your size, or the way you see yourself you can become a model. Modeling boosted my self confidence, it taught me a lot about my body and how I saw myself which I knew I needed to be better at.
But modeling was just not doing it for me it worked at boosting my self esteem and confidence but there was just something missing. At some of my shoots I was modeling at I met some other women that were struggling with self confidence and I did anything I could to help them improve at these shoots, than it hit me what it was about the group shoots that just was not setting right. That’s when I came up with the idea of becoming the photographer..
I told myself that I wanted to help others build their self confidence and see the beauty in themselves like I see. So I started Visionary Photoshoots by Sharrel.
I have now been doing it for 5 years and have had multiple women’s published in magazines, I have watched these women who once struggled with their self image blossom, watched them see their beauty with in, and that’s such an amazing feeling to watch and know you helped do that.
I recently to a year off from my photography due to family stuff, and just started back up with my shoots, I thought I would have to start back on building up my shoots but boy was I wrong, I have created a safe, welcoming safe place and these gals were just waiting for my to start back up.. So going from a model to photographer has taught that helping others see their beauty within has helped my business grow and blossom itself.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I’m Sharrel also know as Visionary Photoshoots by Sharrel, where I help women build their self confidence and get amazing, fun photos of themselves.
I put on group shoots where multiple women of all shapes, size, color and age can come to a safe, secure location to get pictures done. I help pose, fix clothing so I can get the best natural shot for each model.
I also do one on ones, family’s, some wedding, birthdays, boudoir, couple’s boudoir, ect…

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

I think what has helped me build my reputation is having passion in helping build women’s self confidence, and making the shoots fun. Photoshoots are stressful so I love to laugh and joke or have fun to help relax the client/clients. At my shoots you might come as strangers but you leave as family. And with it being so fun and relaxed the photos come out more natural.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

The best way to grow your clientele is word of mouth. If you clients have an amazing experience with you and love their products they will for sure tell their friends/ family.
