We were lucky to catch up with Saint Chevelle recently and have shared our conversation below.
Saint, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about one of the craziest things you’ve experienced in your journey so far.
Man, I haven’t told anyone about this outside of my own family; Someone I thought of as a close friend of mine stole $20,000 worth of equipment from my job. He also ruined my contract and cost me my monthly salary. I gave him an opportunity to work along side me and he abused my kindness. I thought I was helping him out by giving him a chance in the industry to make some extra money, Instead he caused massive amounts of damage to my reputation and financial stability. Haven’t seen him since. Probably best for us both if I never see him again. I’ll tell the whole story another day.
Saint, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Saint Chevelle and I’m a professional songwriter/professional recording artist from Antioch, Tennessee. I represent New Lost City Records & Sony Music Publishing in Nashville. I’ve been a rapper since December 14th, 2019 and signed my first recording contract March 1st, 2025. I’ve been writing since I was 16 years old and I’m proud to say that I’m still chasing my dreams and aspirations. My ups and downs aren’t over yet, but I’m excited to see what more is in store for me. If I could give a piece of advice I’d say this: Be Yourself. There’s a world of people out there from all walks of life and you never know how many people truly relate to you and your story. Don’t let the world in your mind strip you away from what the world in front of you can give you. You feel me?
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
“Don’t trust people” It’s a grimy world but not everyone is a grimy person. Just gotta trust your gut and don’t over share too much. Trust yourself but don’t be afraid to trust others, they might wanna see you win just as much as you do.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Like I said I represent New Lost City Records. Those guys in there have shown me a lot of faith and patience and I thank them for giving me more than enough chances and confidence to do what I do best: Make rap music. I met them through fate and took advantage of the chance they gave me. I always say: “stay ready, don’t get ready” and when we met each other I was more than ready to showcase my talents. Fortunately, for me, my talents were just what they were looking for, and I look forward to the business partnership that we are growing.
