We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sage Miller. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sage below.
Sage, appreciate you joining us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I am so much happier being a creative entrepreneur! I have thought about going back to regular work but I don’t get the opportunity to be creative and enjoy my work! Working for myself has alway made me the happiest, my creativity flows better and I come up with so many fun and inventive ideas! Currently I am working on a podcast and it has been so fun working on the creative sir, coming up with social media content, creating new segments and ideas for the podcast, it truly is so enjoyable.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started as just a yoga instructor trying to grow my personal coaching business. I now have branched out into podcasting, and not focusing on yoga as much, even though it is still a huge part of my life! Podcasting has been such a fun creative outlet for me! I get to work on all the content creation which is one of my favorite things to do! I started with content creation when I was running my yoga business and it really taught me a lot about creating and honing in on what gets attention vs what doesn’t. Our podcast focuses on friendship and leaning into slowing down and enjoying life. We called it The Flamingo Lounge and it’s just friends vibing and having a good time!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
To me it’s just seeing my thoughts and visions coming to life. I have an idea and I work hard to make it come to life, so actually seeing it come to fruition is just amazing to see!

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Honestly my philosophy in entrepreneurship comes from the book “How Yoga Works”. It tells a story of a young girl traveling, she is arrested wrongfully and kept in jail but ultimately her being there is what was supposed to happen and she helps people in a multitude of ways. Basically I know that the Universe is guiding me and I have to trust it, in life and in entrepreneurship. I can’t force anything, but I can step back look at the signs, see what is available for me and follow that path. I choose to be grateful for what I have but know it’s not always permanent and accept what comes my way.
