We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cassius Perry. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cassius below.
Hi Cassius, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned how to rap on my own through trial and error. There’s no blueprint on how to do this honestly. You first start by trying to replicate other artist you may have been a fan of and from that you try to take the strong points from them and add it to what you do. Best example would be like Kobe Bryant replicating Micheal Jordan’s moves.
I don’t think there’s anything that could have sped up my learning process you kinda have to be bad before you become good at anything.
The skills I would say are most essential when becoming an artist especially a rapper is finding your voice and your style for what kind of music you want to make and from there evolving your craft.
I wouldn’t say there was any obstacles that stood in my way that kept me from learning more. Just had to stay in the gym honestly and keep putting shots up.

Cassius, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For the people that don’t know me I am CashDaGawd. For anybody searching for a new favorite artist I’m right here! I make music that is lyrical in its message but simplistic cause I believe less is more and I believe my music is able to motivate and inspire while also being relatable. I’m just a regular guy that likes to take my experiences, thoughts, and feelings and express them through rap.
The thing I’m most proud of is my ability to stay consistent as an independent artist and provide as much music and content that I’ve been able to produce whether it’s releasing music, music videos, and other forms of social media content. Being a musician is very expensive so the fact I’m able to move similar to bigger artist but with a smaller budget I’m most proud of that!
The most important thing I want to come across about me is that I’m a cool dude, I work hard, and I really care about my craft. I’m not just doing this as a hobby or get rich quick scheme.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I believe the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to make something out of nothing. I get an instrumental and now it’s my job as the artist to make it a song. It’s an opportunity to be like Ryan Coogler, Spike Lee, John Singleton or Martin Scorsese. You get a chance to use your imagination like a director would and create your own film in a song format.
My other favorite aspect would be writing the lyrics, it can become a spiritual experience sometimes. Just never know where the words may come from. The universe gets in sync with you sometimes as you write and magic happens!

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
The books that helped me most on my journey would be “The Secret”. It’s a book about positive thinking and manifestation. Two other books that have really helped me are “The Psychology of Money” and “You Deserve to be Rich” those two books helped me get better with my finances. The way I treat money, manage money, and invest money. As well as credit. I would highly recommend all 3 of those books to anybody.
Along with reading I like to watch videos from motivational speaker Eric Thomas when I wake up and before I go to bed so I can start and end my day on a positive note. The things you feed your brain are just as important as the food you feed your body,
