We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ronnique Antoinette . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ronnique below.
Alright, Ronnique thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The story behind my mission started when I was young at age 2. 30 years later, I’m still living my dreams as a successful Professional Artist.
Based out of Washington, DC, The Ramdance Movement dance collective, is a independent modern contemporary dance collective of professional dancers & choreographers creating innovative art. The dance collective became official in 2020.
I’ve set choreography for others while also creating my own work for repertoire. I had this idea of creating my own dance collective so that I can begin presenting my works that Ive never presented yet. I also began working on setting my choreography on film. This was another factor that pushed my need in wanting to form The Ramdance Movement dance collective.
The collective would be for dancers, choreographers, educators & dance entrepreneurs who shared the same passion as me. The Ramdance Movement creates dance that addresses social norms, history and culture.
Not only does The Ramdance Movement creates choreographed works for the stage, but also involves itself with the community offering classes for after school programs, residences ,rehabilitation centers, etc.
The Ramdance Movement mission is to bring people together in dynamic, collective movement experiences that affect personal growth and social change.
I’m an avid lover of collaboration, creating opportunities & sharing my artistic knowledge to the dance community & I’m highly confident that my mission serves that.
Ronnique, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Ronnique Antoinette, Professional Dancer, Choreographer, Educator, Creative Director, Founder & Artistic Director of The Ramdance Movement dance collective. I from Washington DC . I guess you can say that I got into the dance industry at the age of 2, I knew exactly what I wanted to do & that was to dance. Choreographing became a passion later on in my teen years in which I began choreographing for friends, Girl Scout engagements, ceremonies & school functions. Because I loved dance & choreographing so much, I attended Virginia Commonwealth University majoring in Dance & Choreography.
After my studies I began my career as a Dance Educator, teaching for dance studios, public school systems & workshops. I grew as an artist when I began performing/choreographing my own solo work as well as a performer for various dance companies.
It wasn’t until 2020 when I created The Ramdance Movement , an independent modern contemporary dance collective in the DC area. I started The Ramdance Movement because Ive created many choreographed works over the years & had this vision to set my choreographed works on other bodies. I wanted to have something of my own & to create opportunities for dancers.
The Ramdance Movement dance collective create dance that addresses social norms, history and culture. Also involving itself with the community offering classes for after school programs, residences ,rehabilitation centers and autism awareness programs.
There is much to be proud of. I’m proud at the success of my dance company, with it only being 2 years in. I’m proud of the many accomplishments that I’ve achieved but I’m proud that my constant drive , commitment & motivation has kept me going for all these years.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Like any artist, there comes a time in your life when you’re uncertain on which path to take. For the longest I stayed on the path of just being a dancer. I had dreams of owning a dance studio. As I became more versatile in my skills, I realized that my passion as a dancer would shift into now a Choreographer, Dance Educator, Creative Director & an entrepreneur. With each role, I’ve been blessed in expanding my dance community & opportunities. I would say that this is a more clear & greater pivot in my life as an Artist.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
