Alright, Roisin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

At Rosy B Blends, our mission is simple yet powerful: to share the transformative healing properties of essential oils with the world. It all began in 2016, during my corporate job in Melbourne, when I was introduced to the remarkable world of essential oils. I was on the brink of a major presentation, and the nerves were getting the best of me. That’s when Bea, a caring colleague, left two small bottles of essential oils on my desk.

“Try wild orange and lavender, Rosy,” she suggested. “Inhale them before your presentation; it’ll ease your nerves.”

I decided to give it a shot, and the results were astonishing. The aromatic blend did wonders to calm my anxiety and carry me through the presentation successfully. This experience left me captivated and eager to delve deeper into the world of essential oils.

Fast forward to 2018, back in my native Ireland, I faced a deeply challenging period after losing my father to terminal cancer. It was during this trying time that I immersed myself in research, seeking solace and support in the world of essential oils. Now, more than ever, my family and I needed a gentle balm for our anxiety and grief.

My newfound passion became blending essential oils, and I shared my creations with anyone in need of a little extra support in their daily lives. As a makeup artist, my clients often confided in me, and I cherished the connections we formed. Sharing one of my blends became a heartfelt gesture, providing them with the additional support they deserved.

My three favourite blends – Uplift for energy and focus, Calm for soothing the nervous system, and Self Love for grief and strength – quickly gained popularity. People reached out to me, expressing how much these blends improved their lives. I was overjoyed to share my passion and support with others, a gesture of gratitude for all the help I received by inhaling the comforting aromas every day.

As demand continued to grow, I took a leap of faith and founded Rosy B Blends. Since then, we haven’t looked back. Join us on this journey and discover the incredible world of essential oils, the way I did, by experiencing the magic of Rosy B Blends for yourself.

Roisin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Born and raised in the heart of Dublin, Ireland, my journey into the world of wellness and spirituality began as early as I can remember. A profound love for these realms would ultimately shape my path and inspire the birth of Rosy B Blends.

After completing my secondary education, I embarked on a journey of learning and self-discovery. Over the years, I studied holistic massage, makeup artistry, and business. My father’s entrepreneurial spirit fuelled my aspirations. I knew that one day, I too would venture into the world of business.

To gain the experience I needed, I spent a decade of my life to working with luxury brands in both Ireland and Australia. These years were marked by a deep love for my work, and they imparted invaluable lessons in aromas, the customer experience, and the intricacies of running a business.

Early on in my career, I observed the profound impact that aromas could have on people’s emotions. The moment individuals inhaled a new scent, their facial expressions and energy would transform. A fragrance could transport them to cherished memories – a holiday, a special moment, or a loved one’s presence. I experienced this power first hand when I encountered the nostalgic notes of Dior’s fragrance, Dune. Suddenly, I was transported back to my childhood, watching my mother prepare for a special night out, and knowing that when that fragrance filled the air, it meant a memorable evening babysat by Nana.

As I deepened my knowledge of essential oils, I became captivated by their natural healing potential. The way these plant-based compounds interacted with the human body and supported our well-being was nothing short of extraordinary. This revelation marked a pivotal moment in my life.

When I launched Rosy B Blends during the pandemic, I quickly realised that many individuals were grappling with various forms of anxiety, grief, and a lack of motivation. This prompted me to share the simple and natural tools I’d discovered over the years. I offered Roller Oil blends for anxiety and introduced straightforward breathing techniques that had worked for me during challenging times.

Today, I proudly operate my online store, www.rosybblends.com, and engage with customers at Sunday markets across the country. I also continue to freelance as a makeup artist, merging my two passions with the world. The ability to connect, bring joy, and offer support to so many people through Rosy B Blends and Rosy B Beautiful is a dream come true.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?

Yes and it was completely unplanned!

During my makeup artist career in Dublin, I often found myself crafting essential oil blends for regular customers – mostly friends and friends of friends through word-of-mouth. At that time, I had just created an Instagram account, and while I didn’t have many followers, it became a handy platform for people to connect with me about these oils.

Then came the COVID-19 pandemic, and my work as a makeup artist abruptly halted. Suddenly, I found myself at home with an abundance of time on my hands. To add some structure to my days and, quite frankly, to maintain my sanity, I decided to create a website and establish an official product line. I introduced six distinct blends, each available in four different product formats, including Roller Oils for on-the-go use and Room Mists. These six blends, Calm, Uplift, Self Love, Goddess, Meditation, and Protection, remain at the core of Rosy B Blends.

I also decided to embrace my alternative side by infusing each blend with a complementary crystal to enhance their healing properties. For example, the Self Love blend, a mixture of Rose, Geranium, Orange, and Patchouli, is designed to support emotions like grief, heartbreak, and low self-esteem. This blend is infused with Rose Quartz, a crystal known for its energy of love.

The creative process consumed my days, and I was motivated like never before. It felt as if I were being guided by something greater, and I had no expectations about the outcome. Miraculously, the right people would appear to help me overcome challenges and reach the next level, like Laura from Inner Wild Fire, who contributed to label design, photography, and website layout.

One day, a friend of my mom, a regular user of my blends, shared an enlightening insight. She mentioned that people on Ryan Tubridy’s radio show were complaining about the discomfort of wearing face masks. She revealed that she used my Pillow Mist Blend on her mask before going to the shops, and it made the experience of wearing the mask far more pleasant both physically and mentally. That was my “light bulb” moment.

Inspired by this, I created a Face Mask Mist using Lavender and Peppermint, as Lavender is calming when inhaled, and Peppermint freshens and clears the airways while being antibacterial. I lightly misted it on my face mask and, to my delight, we had a delightful product that worked wonders.

With the help of my good friend, we sent a box of Face Mask Mists to RTE Radio addressed to Ryan Tubridy and his staff, offering a natural solution from a new local business. I didn’t expect it to go far, but the next day, my Instagram and website lit up with orders. Ryan and his team had received the package, used my products live on the radio, and he spoke highly of them, giving me a substantial shout-out.

With unwavering support from family, friends, and customers, I had the start I needed to introduce Rosy B Blends to the Irish market. From there, I grew the business from my home, creating blends, producing content, and shipping products all over Ireland.

This summer, Rosy B Blends celebrated its third birthday. To say I’m grateful would be an understatement. The journey from a makeup artist to the creator of Rosy B Blends was unplanned but undoubtedly guided by a higher purpose. <3

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Rosy B Blends has built a reputation thanks to our unique products, like our crystal-infused essential oil blends and Positive Energy Mist that customers love. We believe in the power of our products because they work, and our customers trust that. But it’s not just about the products; it’s about the community we’ve created, connecting with our customers, and sharing our journey. The unexpected shout-out from Ryan Tubridy was a game-changer, and we’re grateful for the incredible support from our community at the Sunday markets. We’re committed to continuing our journey, learning, and improving so we can provide the best to our customers.
