We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Phree Tha Truth Aka Auntie Phree. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Phree Tha Truth below.
Phree Tha Truth , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
A defining moments in my journey was realizing that wellness isn’t just about exercise or self-care… it’s about safety, community, and giving people permission to just be!
Being the eldest daughter, I was the person holding everything together for everyone else while silently carrying my own stress, overwhelm, and emotional weight.
Yoga initially became a personal tool for survival and grounding, but over time I realized people weren’t only responding to the movement… they were responding to the honesty, the conversations, and the feeling of being seen.
That realization changed the trajectory of my work completely. Instead of simply teaching yoga classes, I began creating spaces centered around nervous system healing, mindfulness, cultural connection, sound healing, herbal wellness, and real conversations about what people are carrying emotionally.
Through my practice of Phree Spirit Sanctuary and community wellness events in Phoenix, I’ve learned that healing becomes more powerful when people feel safe enough to be human.
My work today is rooted in helping people reconnect with themselves, soften survival mode, and build genuine community through wellness experiences that feel accessible, grounded, and authentic.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that sometimes your purpose isn’t just in what you teach… it’s in how you make people feel while they’re finding their way back to themselves and safety within themselves.

Phree Tha Truth , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I go by “Phree Tha Truth” , also known by many in my community as Auntie Phree. I’m a wellness speaker, holistic wellness practitioner, community builder, and the founder of Phree Spirit Sanctuary in Phoenix, Arizona. Also a collaborative partner with Arizona Wellness Collective. My work centers around helping people reconnect with themselves through wellness practices that feel accessible, culturally grounded, and emotionally honest.
I originally entered this space through my own healing journey. Like many people, especially women and caretakers, I spent years operating in survival mode while still showing up for everyone around me. Yoga, mindfulness, breathwork, sound healing, and spiritual wellness became tools that helped me regulate my nervous system, reconnect with my body, and create moments of peace during stressful seasons of life. What started as personal healing eventually evolved into purpose-driven community work.
Over time, I realized people weren’t only looking for wellness classes… they were looking for safe spaces to exist, be seen, have real conversations, and feel connected again. That realization shaped the work I do today.
Through Phree Spirit Sanctuary and collaborations with Arizona Wellness Collective, I help create wellness experiences that combine movement, mindfulness, sound healing, herbal wellness, guided conversations, and community connection. I host and facilitate events, workshops, wellness discussions, and experiences designed to support emotional wellness, nervous system regulation, self-awareness, and healing in a way that feels practical and welcoming for everyday people.
In addition to wellness work, I’m also known online as “Phree Tha Truth,” where I use my voice and platform to speak honestly about life, relationships, healing, culture, emotional wellness, and personal growth. Many people connect with me because I approach wellness in a relatable and human way. I believe healing should not feel exclusive, performative, or disconnected from real life.
One thing that sets me apart is my ability to merge wellness, storytelling, spirituality, and community into experiences that feel authentic rather than transactional. Whether I’m teaching yoga, facilitating a wellness event, speaking on a panel, or simply having conversations online, my goal is always the same: helping people feel safe enough to reconnect with themselves.
I’m most proud of the community-centered spaces I’ve been able to help create in Phoenix. In a world where many people are overwhelmed, disconnected, and emotionally exhausted, I believe genuine healing often begins when people feel supported, understood, and reminded that they do not have to carry everything alone.
At the core of my work is the belief that wellness is more than fitness or self-care…. it’s learning how to return to yourself mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. It’s learning how to feel safe again.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of my biggest lessons I’ve had to unlearn is the belief that being strong means carrying everything alone. Breaking the mentality of having to be the strong one all the time..
For a long time, I believed survival mode was normal. I was used to being the dependable person, the helper, the caretaker, the one who figured things out and kept moving no matter what was happening internally. Like many women, especially in community-centered spaces, I thought rest had to be earned and softness was something you got after everything else was handled. Always putting myself last was my sacrifice unknowingly for others..
Eventually, that mindset started showing up everywhere — emotionally, mentally, physically, and even professionally. My breaking point came through my spiritual journey and releasing anger I didn’t know I was holding. I realized I was helping others create peace while still struggling to fully experience it myself. That became a turning point in both my healing journey and my work.
Through yoga, mindfulness, nervous system work, spiritual wellness, and honest self-reflection, I began learning that constant survival is not the same thing as living. I had to unlearn the idea that exhaustion was proof of worthiness and that asking for support or slowing down meant weakness. I had to learn to put down my Superwoman cape..
That lesson deeply shaped the work I do today through Phree Spirit Sanctuary and my community wellness efforts. A lot of my work now focuses on helping people feel safe enough to reconnect with themselves instead of constantly performing strength for the world around them.
What I’ve learned is that true wellness is not just about productivity, appearance, or pushing through pain. Sometimes healing looks like learning how to rest, receive support, set boundaries, and allow yourself to be human again. I had to learn it was okay to put me first and protect my own peace.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
Yes, I would absolutely choose this path again, although I would approach it differently with more patience, balance, and trust in myself.
This work has challenged me in ways I never expected, but it has also given my life purpose, connection, and opportunities to positively impact people in meaningful ways. Through wellness work, community building, speaking, and creating healing spaces, I’ve been able to witness how powerful it is when people feel seen, supported, and safe enough to trust and reconnect with themselves.
If I could go back, I would remind myself earlier that growth does not have to come through constant struggle or burnout. In the beginning, I often felt pressure to overextend myself, prove my value, or carry too much at once. Over time, I learned that sustainable impact requires boundaries, rest, support, and protecting your own peace as much as you care for others. It’s nonnegotiable..
I would also tell myself not to underestimate the value of authenticity. Some of the most meaningful opportunities and connections in my journey have happened because I showed up as myself instead of trying to fit into what wellness or professionalism was “supposed” to look like. I never fitted in to those boxes and so glad I seen that as a good thing and not something to fix.
What keeps me connected to this work is knowing that wellness is deeply needed right now. People are overwhelmed, disconnected, emotionally exhausted, and craving real community. Being able to create spaces that encourage healing, reflection, conversation, and nervous system support feels purposeful to me.
So while I would make some adjustments in how I navigated the journey, I would still choose this profession and this path because it aligns with who I am at my core. And it’s been so fulfilling being in alignment with my authenticity.
