We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Myra Cummings. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Myra below.
Myra, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my med spa came from wanting to practice in a way that was fully aligned with who I am.
I worked in established aesthetic practices where growth was the focus… more botox units, more syringes, more products. That model works for many businesses, but over time I felt the disconnect. I didn’t want my consultations to be driven by how much I could add. I wanted them to be built on trust and long-term relationships.
I value honesty. I value transparency. I value taking the time to truly listen.
I would sit across from women who didn’t want to look transformed, they just wanted to feel refreshed and confident without losing themselves. And I realized that if I wanted to create that kind of experience consistently, I needed to build it myself.
Opening my own med spa gave me the autonomy to slow down, to recommend thoughtfully, and sometimes to recommend nothing at all. To focus on balance instead of volume. On relationships instead of transactions.
This business exists because I believe women can enhance what they already have and still look completely like themselves, while aging gracefully and embracing every stage of life with confidence.
And that alignment, with my values and with the women I treat, is what made it worth building.

Myra, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am the Co-Owner and Operator of Natural Looks, a med spa built on the belief that enhancement should preserve who you are, not change you.
I hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and spent years in ICU and NICU settings, where precision, safety, and attention to detail are essential. I am naturally a perfectionist, and that standard carries into every treatment I provide. My journey into aesthetics began unexpectedly when I covered for a friend at a medical spa. What started as stepping in to help quickly became a passion as I discovered how subtle, thoughtful treatments could enhance confidence in a very natural way.
At Natural Looks, we offer injectables and advanced skincare treatments designed to support facial harmony and long-term skin health. My approach is conservative, transparent, and relationship-based. I focus on refinement rather than transformation, taking the time to listen and create personalized plans that feel aligned with each woman’s goals.
What I am most proud of is when a client looks in the mirror and simply feels like herself — refreshed, confident, and comfortable in her own skin.
Natural Looks stands for precision, trust, and subtle enhancement, helping women age gracefully while embracing their individuality.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for Natural Looks has truly been word of mouth.
There’s something incredibly meaningful about that. In aesthetics, trust is everything. When a client refers a friend, a sister, a coworker, it’s not just a recommendation of a service, it’s a reflection of how safe, heard, and confident they felt in my care.
Most of our growth has happened organically. Women come in because someone they trust told them, They notice subtle results on someone they know, nothing obvious, nothing overdone, just a refreshed, natural look. That quiet confidence speaks louder than any advertisement ever could.
I believe word of mouth has been our strongest source because Natural Looks is built on relationships. When clients feel genuinely listened to, treated thoughtfully, and never pressured, they share that experience.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that doing more meant doing better.
Early in my aesthetic career, I worked in environments where success was often measured in units, syringes, and product sales. Growth was the goal, and bigger treatment plans were encouraged. While that model works for many practices, I had to pause and ask myself whether that truly reflected how I wanted to care for women.
Over time, I realized that more isn’t always better. More can sometimes dilute what makes someone uniquely beautiful.
Unlearning that mindset was freeing. I began to see how powerful subtle changes can be. How thoughtful pacing builds confidence. How long-term relationships matter more than a single large treatment day. It also gave me the confidence to say something many people don’t expect to hear in aesthetics: “No, you don’t need that.”
Opening Natural Looks allowed me to fully embrace that lesson. I no longer measure success by how many syringes I sell. I measure it by how a woman feels after her treatment… confident, comfortable, and fully herself.
Sometimes the most impactful choice is knowing when to stop.
