We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mi’Lynn Tomasini. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mi’Lynn below.
Alright, Mi’Lynn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
My mother did a lot of things right, but I feel like something that i’m extremely grateful for is her investing money for my brother and I. She made sure that from a young age, we had savings accounts, money in stocks, bitcoin and whatever else. I’m grateful for that, because my brother and I never had to worry about a thing. We know that we will always be financially stable and it started before we could even walk or talk. I want to be able to do that for my future children and set them up for life.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been dancing since 2009, and have been professionally doing so for a couple of years now. When I was younger, I just couldn’t find anything that interest me, as far as sports, clubs in school, or anything for that matter. A very close friend of my mom, Jai Jones, opened up a dance studio called AREA (Atlanta’s Resource for Entertainment & Arts). My mom didn’t ask me if I wanted to dance, she instead told me I was going to. I slowly fell in love with the arts and once I realized I could do it as a job and still do other things in life, I knew it was my path. I can strongly say that I am not a 9 to 5 girl. I am not saying anything is wrong with a 9 to 5 at all, I just know it’s not my calling.
During my dance career, I’ve worked with many different artists, music videos, live performances and I have so much respect and love for what I do. I would love to switch gears and become a creative director/choreographer and work behind the scenes of the industry, opposed to just dancing.
Recently, I have had to divert my attention from dance a little and have now taken over my family’s daycare, Future Stars Academy, in Atlanta. I lost my mother is May 2025 and I was left with this legacy and I don’t take it for granted at all. My mother built something so beautiful within this daycare and I have learned so many different things business wise and I’ve grown tremendously. I enjoy being around the kids and I have an amazing team behind me. If you’re looking for childcare, come stop by and see us!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
My mom passed May 8, 2025 & leading up to that day my life was no longer the same. I had to put everything on pause and be there for her and my brother. Within my dance career, I’ve been on the road 90% of the time, so I was rarely home. Being on the road wasn’t in the cards for me anymore by choice. I had to shift gears and start learning the daycare business so that I could become the new director. It was a huge pivot for me, because I now had to be in Atlanta full time and I had to push the pause button on dance, which was the second hardest struggle for me during that time. I eventually learned the ropes and I’m still learning how to balance both of my worlds now, but it’s definitely been a blessing.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being yourself is always the key. I know everyone says that, but it’s a lesson I ‘ve struggled with, relearned time and time again, and I stand by it now. No one else in this world is you, so you have to always be authentically you. That’s what I ‘ve done, even though I ‘ve had some moments where I didn’t know myself anymore. I had to learn that you will not be everyone’s cup of tea, but as long as you remain yourself, you will always end up in the rooms are you supposed to be in no matter what.
