We were lucky to catch up with Mark Borowitz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mark , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
In my experience, quality of work and communication have been the two biggest contributors to operating a successful business. An example of this would be; having the decency to call everyone back in a timely fashion even if you are too busy to do the job they are requesting. Another is communicating with homeowners to understand what they are trying to achieve and giving them options with a professional opinion attached to those options. Communicating with the builder and/or other tradesman who are working on the project is also crucial.
As far as quality of work, I pride myself in completing every install to the highest degree of precision, which typically does not go unnoticed. On each project, i have the outlook that the install is going to be completed as it would be if I were working on my own personal home.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
This is a great question! I am 35 years old and have been involved to this type of work for over 22 years. I understand this may sound silly to some. I owe a lot of success to my dad who I’ve been working alongside since he started his business in 2001. He had worked for a glass company for over 20 years and decided to take the plunge. I’ll never forget him picking me up from school and going straight to one of his first jobs. I usually helped carry in tools, materials, and assisted with small tasks during the install process. Over the years of learning from him, I picked up many good qualities that I thought were essential to become successful. One of the main things I admired about him, was his professionalism around everyone he dealt with, regardless of their status.
My services include; bathroom/shower layout and recommendations, custom glass shower enclosures (this accounts for over 90% of my business) custom mirrors, deck/staircase glass, table top glass and cabinet glass.
I think what I am most proud of is being able to show my children that you can be successful with the right determination and motivation regardless of obstacles that arise.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Word of mouth and building relationships with builders, other tradesman, and homeowners.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Shortly after starting my business, I was installing a custom euro shower enclosure door and stationary panel for a homeowner. This happened to be the first (and hopefully last) that an incident occurred involving injury due to glass. The stationary glass panel was pinched and if you know tempered glass, you’ll know that this is the type of glass that breaks in many small and sharp pieces. To my misfortune, the glass broke as I was knelt down and it all came crashing down on me which cut the back of my head and neck. Many emotions including frustration, embarrassment, and a sense defeat occurred in this quick time frame. I could’ve easily quit, never came back and perused something else with my career but I saw this as a small bump in the road and chose to persevere. Looking back I knew this was the right decision.
