We were lucky to catch up with Mandisa Mosi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mandisa, thanks for joining us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
When I hear the words, “professional career,” I laugh a little. I originally wanted to be a songwriter, but my mama said that doesn’t make money and I have to go to college to make money. So, I told myself I would be a scientific researcher and I got my degree in Chemistry and burned out. I spent 3 years after college to care for my mama to eventually go into logistics. It was easy and it was a career I stayed in for 10 years until, I burned out. I was also in a cult for 7 of those 10 years and I would come in and out of it, until.. you guessed it, I burned out. In the west, we often cannot choose careers that feed our souls. We are most often forced to choose careers that feed our bank accounts, our fears, and/or the fears of those closest/most influential to us. I’ve done this countless times and ended up burned out each time.
My burn out careers taught me bad habits. Bad habits that I brought to the career that feeds my soul. I am now in the learning cycle that it is not enough to leave the burn out careers, but to also leave the burn out habits that are rooted in fear. Constantly working, constantly feeling the need to produce, and to constantly do because that is how for nearly 25 years I have been programmed to operate. When I got pushed out of my burn out career in 2025 along with over 600,000 other Black women, I took that as a moment to reflect and to pause. I knew it was time for me to truly reclaim my life by choosing my soul career and subsequently, me.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I owe the seriousness of my spiritual journey to the three years of my life that I spent taking care of my mom after graduating from Spelman College and feeling stuck, alone, not good enough, and some days just plain stupid. I used my time to find myself, to research and explore the wonderful world of metaphysics and of our true history. I learned I can believe in The Most High and not be afraid of my darkness, that God can be found in even the strangest and darkest of places. I am Mandisa Mosi, creator and manifestor, teacher and student, artist and oracle. My favorite book to read and my favorite things to explore are one in the same: The Book of Self. I have learned that all the answers to every question, the reason every person has annoyed me and done me ‘wrong’ lies within. I tackle all of those hard lessons with a smile on my face. I love to laugh. Being serious is not my strong suit. I handle the grit of life grinning and laughing hysterically. It’s a part of my alchemy that I am now accepting and integrating to ensure that I am my most authentic self at all times. I simply have the ability to see the humor in everything, which is essential in my line of work.
I guide others to reclaim their power and liberation. We dive deep into aspects of the soul that many have forgotten or have labeled taboo and unnecessary. Deep spiritual work does not require putting on, it required letting go, shedding, and integrating. All that you are to be, you already are. I simply provide the medium for you to travel there without fear. I provide collective experiences, collective rituals, and solo rituals for those at every stage of their journey. I meet you where you are because where you are is where you are meant to be. I utilize spiritual, somatic, and mindfulness practices while we do the necessary spiritual, mental, emotional, and somatic work for you to reclaim your wholeness.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In the cult, I lost nearly everything; my mind, my friends, my money, my family, etc. I experienced homelessness and slander that I don’t wish on my worst enemy. Most of all, I became my own worst enemy during that time. I chose to leave even though I had followed them to a completely new state with no support and having recently being let go from my job. I took the skills I learned before, during, and after the experience and chose to alchemize my pain and reclaim my power.
This is the lens through which I do my work. We do not always realize how easily we give our power away to others we are in relation with. It starts off small until it grows to you questioning your own intuition.
I am building my life and my career back at the same time and it is truly a test that I am grateful for.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Integrity. Spiritual integrity is so necessary. Integrity is not only doing what you say you will do when no one is watching, it is also redirecting those to their own internal compass when you see they are becoming too dependent on you. It is why I start my work with decolonizing the mind and deconstructing from codependency. The culture of America is very much so dependent on creating cults and having us operate with a cult mind in our interpersonal relationships. Thus, it is essential for integrity to always be at the forefront in my line of work.
