We recently connected with Louboutin Kendoll and have shared our conversation below.
Louboutin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I really love being an Artist. But as a Graphic Designer as well as any Artist you have times when business slows complete down. When this happens, I sometimes begin to doubt myself. I start to wonder if being an artist and doing what I love is worth it, or if I should get a regular job. Every once in a while I’ll pick up a regular part-time job to test it out, but I always end up feeling out of place like it’s not for me. At that job is when I remember my worth and my fire returns. Because at that moment, I realize that I’m so much more than punching into someone’s clock and doing things I hate just to make ends meet. I usually end up quitting, but what I gain from it is that I’m an Artist first and sometimes you have to be patient and let things play out the way they should. If you see a vision for yourself see it through. It doesn’t matter if anyone else can see it.
Louboutin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Louboutin Kendoll. I’m 27 years old. I found my passion for Graphic Design in high school and decided that I wanted to make it a career . After graduating high school I attended The Art Institute where I received my Associates Degree in Graphic and Web Design. I didn’t take any internships and sometimes I wonder if things would be be different if I did. The first 2-3 years I didn’t really make any money and I started to question if I had went to school for the right thing. I’ve always love to design so I stuck in there. Eventually business began to pick up for me and I had even started to get acknowledgment for my work. I specialize in Logos, Flyers, Business Cards, T-Shirt Design, Album Covers, Branding, and etc. I think what sets me apart from other Graphic Designers is my availability and my stellar work..
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I feel like the most rewarding aspect of being a Graphic Designer is riding down the street or being online and seeing the work that you did for somebody. Theirs no better feeling then that.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I feel that their should be more events, media, and attention to artist and all creatives.
