Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Liz Morgan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Liz , appreciate you joining us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
Honestly, I wish I had started sooner.
When I officially started my business, I was already in a full season of life , deep in motherhood, juggling family responsibilities, and trying to rediscover who I was outside of everyone who depended on me. Photography didn’t begin as a perfectly planned career move. It started quietly, in the margins of my life, as a creative outlet that slowly turned into purpose.
At the time, I wasn’t coming from a traditional business background. I was learning everything as I went, how to run a business, how to grow creatively, and how to trust myself, all while raising children and navigating real life. I waited longer than I needed to because I thought I had to be more “ready,” more experienced, or more established before calling it a business.
Looking back, starting sooner would have given me the gift of time and time to grow without pressure, time to fail forward, and time to build confidence earlier. I would have realized sooner that clarity doesn’t come before action; it comes from action.
Starting later would have meant missing out on years of connection, storytelling, and personal growth. This business has shaped me just as much as I’ve built it. It’s taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of honoring creativity even in busy seasons of life.
So if I could go back, I wouldn’t change when life was happening, I would simply start alongside it sooner. I didn’t need to wait for the perfect moment. The imperfect one was always enough.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Liz Morgan, a wife, photographer, creative, and mom of five based in the Upstate of South Carolina. At my core, I’m a storyteller. Everything I do, from photography to writing to building community, is rooted in capturing real life as it unfolds. The beauty, the chaos, the quiet moments, and the ones that change you forever.
I didn’t come into this industry through a traditional or linear path. Photography found me during a season where I was deep in motherhood and learning how to hold space for everyone else while trying to rediscover myself. What started as a creative outlet quickly became something much bigger. I realized I wasn’t just taking photos. I was preserving memories, validating stories, and helping people see the beauty in their own lives.
Professionally, I learned everything hands on and in real time. I built my business while raising children, managing a household, and navigating seasons that required resilience and faith. There were no shortcuts, just growth through experience, trial and error, and a deep commitment to honoring both my family and my calling. Through it all, I give all glory to God, because without Him, I would not be where I am today.
Through my photography business, I specialize in lifestyle, family, couples, weddings, elopements, and branding sessions. My approach is natural, emotive, and story driven. I focus less on perfection and more on connection. The in between moments, genuine emotion, and the details that matter most. For brands and business owners, I create imagery that feels aligned, intentional, and true to who they are, not overly posed or manufactured.
The problem I solve for my clients is simple but meaningful. I help them feel seen and remembered. Many people come to me feeling uncomfortable in front of the camera or unsure how to show up as themselves. My job is to create a safe, relaxed experience where they can breathe, be present, and trust the process. I want my clients to walk away not just with beautiful images, but with the feeling that their story mattered.
What sets me apart is the heart behind my work. I don’t separate my life from my business. My experiences as a mother, a woman, and a creative deeply inform how I show up for others. I understand busy seasons, emotional seasons, and seasons where life feels heavy. That empathy shows up in how I photograph, how I communicate, and how I build relationships with my clients.
Recently, I was honored to become a South Carolina ambassador working with Jude and Jo Jo Photography, where I focus on special needs and disability photography. Jude and Jo Jo partners with families, communities, and organizations to tell stories that inspire and create a sense of belonging. That mission deeply aligns with my own heart and approach to storytelling. Community, connection, and meaningful representation matter to me, and I am proud to be part of work that reflects those values and uplifts others through honest, purpose driven imagery.
I’m most proud of building a business that reflects who I truly am while still supporting my family. I’m proud that my work resonates with people not because it is trendy, but because it is honest. I’m proud of the community that has formed around my brand. Other creatives, mothers, and small business owners who value authenticity over perfection.
The main thing I want people to know about me and my brand is this. You don’t have to be polished or put together to be worthy of being captured. Your story right now in this season is enough. Whether I’m photographing a wedding day, a growing family, or a brand finding its voice, my goal is always the same. To create work that feels meaningful, timeless, and deeply personal.
At the end of the day, I don’t just document moments. I help people remember who they were when life was happening.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes. My creativity is driven by the desire to help people feel seen, valued, and remembered. I create with the intention of honoring real stories, especially the ones that are often overlooked or feel unseen in everyday life.
At the heart of my work is a mission to document life as it truly is, not just the highlight moments. I want families, mothers, couples, and individuals to look back at their images and recognize themselves in them, not a version they felt pressured to perform for the camera.
My faith plays a huge role in that mission. I believe God places purpose in every season and every person, and my work is one way I reflect that truth. All glory goes to Him, because without Him guiding my path, my creativity would have no direction.
I am especially passionate about creating inclusive spaces through photography, including special needs and disability storytelling. Everyone deserves to be represented with dignity, care, and authenticity. Being trusted with those stories is something I never take lightly.
Ultimately, my goal is to create work that outlives the moment. Images that feel honest, meaningful, and rooted in love. Creativity for me is not about trends or perfection. It is about connection, legacy, and reminding people that their story matters right where they are.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One moment that really illustrates my resilience came early on in my photography journey. I was still building my confidence, balancing motherhood, and figuring out how to run a business at the same time. I remember showing up to a session after a long, exhausting week, mentally questioning whether I was doing enough or if I even belonged in this space.
That session wasn’t perfect. The light shifted, kids were restless, and nothing went exactly as planned. But instead of forcing control, I leaned into presence. I slowed down, connected with the family, and allowed the moment to unfold naturally. What came from that session ended up being some of the most honest and meaningful work I had created up to that point.
That experience taught me an important lesson. Resilience doesn’t always look like pushing harder. Sometimes it looks like staying when things feel uncomfortable, trusting the process, and choosing grace over perfection. I learned that I didn’t have to have everything figured out to show up fully.
Since then, that mindset has carried me through hard seasons, personal loss, growth pains, and moments of doubt. Every challenge has shaped how I photograph and how I serve my clients. It reminds me that even in the messiest moments, there is beauty worth preserving.
That story continues to guide me today. It is why I approach every session with patience, empathy, and intention, knowing that resilience often lives in the quiet decision to keep going.
