We were lucky to catch up with Lisa White recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lisa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I started my treat business at a time in my life when I knew I was done having kids and needed something to pour myself into. I used to work in a bakery decorating cakes and dipping strawberries, and that always gave me a sense of peace.
So I decided to turn that passion into something more my business became my new baby. I’ve watched it grow from nothing into something truly amazing.
What I love most is having the freedom to create, to take something ordinary and turn it into something extraordinary.
This business gave me a new purpose, something that’s mine, something I can build, nurture, and be proud of every single day.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I started decorating cakes and treats in 2012 as a way to cope with my anxiety, and over time it grew into a true passion. Although I had moments of doubt, I chose to invest in myself by taking classes and practicing until I was confident enough to take customers.
Today, I specialize in custom treats and themed treat tables with a unique style that sets my work apart. My goal is simple, when someone sees my work, they know it’s mine before even seeing my name.
I’ve proudly been in business for 4 years and continue to grow. I also offer treat classes for aspiring treat makers and those looking to learn new techniques.
This is more than just treats it’s my passion and my purpose.

How did you build your audience on social media?
My advice when it comes to building your audience on social media, it would be to just post. Don’t overthink it, post your work and try your best to stay consistent.
Use all social media platforms because you never know where your next client is coming from. And remember, nothing is too small to post. If it involves your business, it’s worth sharing.
I’m still working on being consistent myself, but I can honestly say I’ve gained a lot of new customers just from posting my work and letting people come across it.
Consistency is key. Keep showing up, and your audience will grow.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
One of my best sources of new clients has been event planners. They’ve truly become the backbone of my business, connecting me with so many new clients. After working events with them, I’ve gained a lot of returning customers as well.
Another major source is social media. My videos have reached people in many different states and connected me with clients outside of my area.
Both have played a huge role in my growth, and that’s why I always say it’s important to build relationships with event planners and consistently post your work because you never know which one will lead you to your next client.
