We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lisa Schafer. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lisa below.
Lisa, appreciate you joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later?
Because facilitating freedom for others (like tutoring through my step-by-step process to forgive the unforgivable) is all about answering God’s call to do so, I obviously wish I’d have started sooner. I’ve always felt like the Lord wanted me to serve other women, but it took years for me to find clarity of purpose. If I’d started sooner, perhaps more women would have found freedom and broken their own bondage to bitterness by now. Looking back at the many WAH things I’ve done, nothing has given me more purpose or more peace than founding Christian Drama Queen Solutions and focusing on helping others find their own purpose for a painful past.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
About four years ago, while working in the medical field, I felt God calling me home to write. I didn’t consider myself a writer, but I took a short course to refresh my skills and stepped out in obedience—even though I had no clear direction at first.
I considered writing about many areas of my life—homeschooling, infertility, adoption, and loss—but nothing felt right. Then, during prayer, I was given clarity: the place God had redeemed me the most was where I was meant to serve others.
That place was my story of abandonment and abuse.
As a young child, I was abandoned by my father and experienced physical abuse. Over the past 40 years, God has walked me through a journey of not only forgiving those who hurt me, but learning to love and forgive them the way He does. That became the message I was called to share.
From that obedience, I wrote my first Bible study, Discarded: A Daughter’s Journey to Reclaim Freedom and Forgive the Father Who Left Her Behind. Afterward, I was asked to teach more specifically on forgiveness in cases of abuse, which led to my second study, The Christian Victim’s Guide to Forgiving the Unforgivable.
Both focus on healing from trauma, overcoming feelings of rejection and unworthiness, and addressing the shame that often follows deep wounds. But at the heart of it all is this: learning to trust God as Father, even when our earthly experiences have made that difficult.
Today, I share this message through Bible studies, a scripture-based planner, digital resources, and my podcast—where I teach and highlight stories of redemption, showing how God equips us to forgive even the most painful experiences.
And for those who need some one-to-one tutoring and prayer partnering through the studies, I offer personal sessions to walk them through the difficult task of forgiving the unforgivable.
I would say what I’m most proud of, or maybe cherish the most, is the way God will use all the sin committed against me to help others. He really waste no sin, but when you’re the victim, it difficult to see that. It’s very humbling to see a victim find freedom during one of our sessions. He’s so good to use our pain and healing that way.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
People are desperate for answers and solutions to their problems. I used to believe that I had to be a “master” in order for people to want what I had to offer. Turns out what they really want is authenticity and a deep empathetic conversation that will genuinely help them solve their problems. And I don’t market my business “the old fashioned way.” I reach out to people who have similar audiences to mine and offer to support them, whether it’s a workshopping together or sharing resources, the goal is to offer real support and genuinely care about what their doing. I call it “Mission Partnering,” and give them a chance to help my audience, as well. We need authentic relationships and that’s what I’m trying to build.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
With all of my heart, I desire to see women free from bitterness and follow the writings of Paul in 2 Cor. 1:3-5. Take the comfort they’ve received and share it with someone else who needs it.
