We were lucky to catch up with Lexi Dahling recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lexi, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I started my business online in 2018 out of a spare bedroom in my house. It began with small product drops and a simple website, and I learned everything as I went, sourcing, pricing, shipping, marketing, and building a brand from scratch. Those early years were all about testing, adjusting, and paying attention to what resonated. Over time, an online community naturally formed, and that’s when my bigger vision became clearer. A storefront had always been my dream, but I wanted it to be more than a boutique, I wanted it rooted in my mental health mission. After building a strong online foundation and loyal customer base, I opened my storefront in June 2023. Because the community was already there, the transition felt natural, and the physical space allowed me to truly bring the mission to life in a deeper, more personal way.

Lexi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Lexi, a marketing-driven creative and the founder of Forever Adored Boutique, which I launched online in 2018 before opening my storefront in June 2023. My background is in marketing communications and graphic design, so I’ve always approached business through both a strategic and creative lens. I didn’t start this brand just to sell clothing, I started it because I saw an opportunity to create something deeper and more community-focused within the boutique space.
Forever Adored Boutique offers colorful, trendy clothing primarily for women ages 17–32, but the heart of the brand goes far beyond fashion. Our mission is rooted in mental health awareness, confidence, and creating a space where women feel seen and supported. What began as small online product drops out of a spare bedroom slowly grew into a strong, engaged community. Building that foundation online gave me the clarity and confidence to expand into a physical storefront, where I’m now able to bring the mission to life through in-person connection, thoughtful merchandising, and meaningful conversations.
What sets me apart is the combination of heart and strategy. I’m deeply intentional about branding, analytics, and long-term growth. I track performance, study customer behavior, and build systems, but I also lead with authenticity. I believe people connect to honesty, not perfection. I’m transparent about the realities of entrepreneurship, the learning curves, and the growth process.
What I’m most proud of is that this business was built from the ground up with purpose at the center. We built community before we built walls. I want potential customers, collaborators, and followers to know that this brand isn’t just about products , it’s about creating an experience and a feeling. Everything I do is driven by impact, connection, and building something that truly matters.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Kindness. Truly, it’s that simple. Everyone is navigating life outside of work, just like you are. When you lead with empathy, everything shifts, communication improves, trust builds, and morale follows. I’m incredibly grateful for my team. They are reliable, hardworking, and deeply invested, and I know I could not do this without them.
For me, maintaining high morale starts with remembering they’re human beings first. Life happens. Energy fluctuates. Sometimes people need support before they ask for it. Holding myself accountable to offer breaks, check in proactively, and create space when needed is huge. When your team feels respected and cared for, not just managed, they show up differently. Appreciation, flexibility, and genuine gratitude go a long way.

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
One of my favorite marketing stories honestly centers around social media, and at the time, it felt like a risk.
When I first started growing the boutique, especially in a small town, most stores treated online and in-store shopping as two completely separate experiences. I decided to blend them. I was the first boutique in my area to really push modeling our actual inventory on real people and consistently showing it online while also driving traffic back into the store.
High-quality, real photos became non-negotiable for me. I didn’t want stock images. I didn’t want flat lays only. I wanted real bodies in the clothes. That was and still is deeply tied to my mental health mission. Representation matters. Seeing how something fits on a real person changes how someone feels about themselves when they shop.
But I didn’t stop there.
I started printing those modeled photos and attaching them directly to the racks in-store so customers could visually see full outfits styled together. It helped them shop more confidently and eliminated that overwhelming “I don’t know how to wear this” feeling. It bridged the gap between scrolling online and standing in the store.
At the same time, I committed to showing up on social media stories constantly, not polished, not overproduced, just me. Talking through new arrivals. Trying things on. Sharing thoughts. Being honest. Being human.
There were definitely moments where I wondered if I was oversharing or if it looked “too casual.” But what happened instead was connection. Engagement increased. Sales increased. In-store traffic increased. People would walk in referencing something I said on stories the night before. They felt like they already knew me.
That’s when it clicked for me: people are just people who want to see real people.
Taking that risk and leaning into authenticity instead of perfection, completely changed the trajectory of my marketing. It wasn’t about selling harder. It was about showing up consistently and honestly. And that’s been one of the biggest game changers for my business.
