We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lanota Fludd a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lanota, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What was your school or training experience like? Share an anecdote or two that you feel illustrate important aspects or the overall nature of your schooling/training experience.
I attended Liberty University for my training to be a licensed professional counselor. Liberty is a CACREP ( Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) school. The biggest two takeaways I have from graduate school is be versatile as well as to remain knowledgeable. As a therapist no one client is the same and so clinically what may be clinically a great modality for one may not be beneficial for another. The other is to stay current as things change.

Lanota, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am the owner of Luxury Life Counseling and I am licensed in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Luxury Life provides a unique boutique experience to mental wellness. We work with adults and couples eighteen and over. Our goal is to help people to obtain or maintain a healthy relationship be it with self or others.
What sets us apart is that we work with clients to establish and navigate their goals in a way that is not only clinically sound but also compassionate.
We allow clients space to be transparent without judgement. What we are most proud about is being able to see restoration be it individually or within a couple. That restoration can look like a person finally finding the peace that they used to have, no longer being anxious, resolving long term beliefs, getting to a place of healthy co-parenting, and even recommitting to a relationship.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Resilience is necessary as a small business owner. For me my resilience came in having to navigate training while working full time. Having to figure out how to have long days while still working a full time job and being in school required me to create a high level of balance.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn is that “the early bird gets the worm.”I have always been taught that showing up early ensures success and while it is true that there are benefits and it is important to be early or on time it does not guarantee “the worm.” Relationships in business are also about connection, fit, and intentionality not just timing.
