We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Justin Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Justin below.
Justin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
College and pro athletes are making more and more money as all sports seems to be growing. Only a select few of us will actually be able to play professional but we can stay around the game we love as becoming an agent. There are many agents that make millions of dollars and I want people to know you can still be successful if going pro doesn’t work out. My mission is to help athletes get every dollar they deserve while marketing them as well so they may receive endorsements.

Justin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My agency is called Ten18 Management. I represent college athletes and help negotiate brand deals to make sure they receive their worth. I also negotiate their NIL deals with their school collectives to make sure they are properly paid. I’ve worked with over 25 brands and have helped hundred of athletes receive NIL deals. This spring I will be taking the NBPA agency exam, so I am able to represent NBA players and also FIBA players.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I first decided I wanted to be an agent I would reach out to many agencies looking for an intern to get my foot in the door. I have a good relationship with college and NBA players so I thought with a recommendation I’d be able to easily get the job but that wasn’t the case. After I was never able to land an internship I started my own agency and taught myself how to become a successful agent. Now I have agencies reaching out all the time to do partnerships or hire me as an NIL representative.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I recruit talent at all levels. One of my former clients Kerry Richardson played division 2 basketball and is now playing in Germany. I do not over look players just because they aren’t at the highest level and I try to help out everyone I can. When I do right by them, they refer other athletes to me and this expands my business.
