Jon “C.E.O Jayy”, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Zodiak Brand was born during one of the hardest seasons of my life. After waking from a powerful dream, I immediately sketched a design that felt God-given.
I asked people if they’d wear it — and the “yes” responses confirmed everything. With faith, vision, and consistency, I turned that moment into a brand.
Still growing. Still elevating. Still delivering quality apparel and fragrances.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The Story of CEO Jayy: Building with Strategy, Discipline, and Vision
CEO Jayy’s journey in the fashion industry was shaped by environment, mentorship, and intention. While connected to the entrepreneurial community at Wayne State University, he found himself surrounded by seasoned business owners who had years of experience in the clothing industry. These veteran entrepreneurs not only shared knowledge, but also opened doors — inviting him and Zodiak Brand to pop-up shops, venues, and exclusive opportunities that helped scale his business.
Through these experiences, CEO Jayy sharpened one of his greatest strengths: problem-solving. Whether facing challenges with clients, production, or equipment, he built a reputation for finding solutions quickly and effectively. His mindset is rooted in perseverance — moving at his own pace, staying focused, and overcoming obstacles without losing sight of the bigger vision.
Rather than chasing every passing trend, CEO Jayy takes a strategic approach. He carefully observes shifts in the industry, understanding that trends are temporary, but consistency builds legacy. Zodiak Brand stands firmly on discipline, efficiency, and reliability. Every order is fulfilled with intention, and each customer experience is improved with precision and care.
More than just a clothing label, Zodiak Brand is a multifaceted creative company. In addition to apparel, the brand produces its own fragrances, executes professional photography, and hosts public events that bring supporters together. This diversified approach reflects CEO Jayy’s commitment to ownership, creativity, and long-term growth.
With strategy over shortcuts and consistency over trends, CEO Jayy continues to build a brand defined by resilience, innovation, and disciplined execution.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience in Action: Stepping Back, Then Stepping Forward
Throughout much of his entrepreneurial journey, CEO Jayy built his brand by learning from others — partnering on events, observing seasoned organizers, and allowing Zodiak Brand to grow through collaboration. While these experiences were invaluable, they also prepared him for a defining moment: stepping out independently.
Recently, alongside his brother Ed Racks, he produced Zodiak Brand’s own fashion experience, “Walking by Faith” — a fully self-powered show brought to life by a dedicated team of entrepreneurs, models, and creatives. It marked a major shift from participation to leadership.
The road to execution was far from smooth. The team faced significant complications, last-minute alterations, and scheduling conflicts that threatened to stall the production. Yet through persistent effort, strategic coordination, and unwavering faith in God, they crossed the finish line. Although attendance did not meet their highest expectations, the event delivered what mattered most: excellence in execution, an exceptional guest experience, and the formation of invaluable business relationships.
The show also represented something deeper — a personal reemergence. Prior to this event, CEO Jayy had intentionally stepped away from the spotlight to focus on raising his four children and strengthening his foundation at home. For years, he prioritized fatherhood while quietly continuing to refine his craft behind the scenes.
During that period, he never abandoned his profession. He fulfilled bulk custom orders, mastered sticker and decal production, developed fragrances, and expanded his technical skill set. What some may have viewed as a pause was, in reality, preparation.
“Walking by Faith” was more than a fashion show; it was a testament to discipline, growth, and divine timing. It symbolized a return — not as a beginner, but as a seasoned professional equipped with experience, resilience, and a sharpened vision.
For CEO Jayy, resilience is not simply about surviving obstacles — it is about evolving through them, staying faithful to the process, and stepping forward when the timing is right.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A Lesson I Had to Unlearn
One of the most important lessons I had to unlearn was relying too heavily on support from family and close friends as the foundation of my business.
Community support is powerful, especially within the Black community where we naturally want to uplift one another. However, I learned that mixing business with personal relationships can sometimes create blurred boundaries. When money is tied to emotion, it can introduce complications — expectations of discounts, delayed payments, or unspoken obligations that impact professionalism.
Early on, I realized that in order to grow sustainably, I had to build a client base rooted in value rather than familiarity. I had to seek new customers, earn my revenue through quality and consistency, and allow my work to stand on its own merit.
That shift required maturity. It meant understanding that true support doesn’t compromise standards — and that structure protects both relationships and business.
Today, I approach every transaction with clarity, professionalism, and respect. Because I’ve learned that when business is handled with discipline, relationships can remain intact — and growth becomes intentional rather than emotional.
