We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jeice Laurent a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jeice thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I’ve always been in the creative space since a child performing at church. From singing to dancing and even step shows, being infront of a crowd and doing my thing has always been apart of my life. Stuck with it growing up through high school making YouTube videos of me and my dance crew and even early rap songs. Now as an adult Ive started creating my own world and brand. The only thing that could’ve sped this process up, was my confidence and upping my disciplinary habits of just being consistent with my uploads. Learning how to use a camera has probably been my most essential skill cause it gets me in rooms with ppl who need my services and it’s also like a cool way to introduce my other talents & skills. Lastly the only thing that stood in my way,, was just making myself more available to have opportunities to display my wealth of experiences.

Jeice, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m from Wyandotte County Kansas City, Kansas. I’m a self taught recording artist, audio engineer, vocal producer, model, videographer & photographer. I got in the creative space about 7 years ago in the Kansas City area. I’m pretty much a jack of all trades creatively when it’s comes to curating content. What makes me stand out from everybody else is just my natural ability to stand out, everything I do for my brand and business are things I’ve always been interested in since I was a teenager making YouTube videos. I’m mainly proud of everything I do and the services I provide to be honest, cause what I do for myself I pour the same amount of effort into my clients. But I will add I think it’s a 3 way tie between my music, photography and bts videography style that I not only do for me but local artist and businesses in the KC metropolis

How did you build your audience on social media?
Very simple, I upload myself constantly. In today’s age you have to put yourself out there like it’s nobody’s business. Giving people something to support and watch showing your audience you aren’t gonna disappear is probably the most important thing I can say to the next creative coming up in their process

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The best reward is displaying my talents and telling ppl how involved I am in my whole process to create the final product
